Oh. Gliding back. And I thought I did the smart by gliding forward. Well, that'll ease the daily.

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 1 points 2 years ago

I genuinely also doubt that it's a bug, but if it's not it's fucking retarded and I decided to take the nicer option. Somehow I feel like GW2 is absolutely falling apart. Who in his right mind breaks LFG in such a way? Every halfway sane person would come up with block working like you described, but whoever is in charge seems completely decoupled from reality and utterly void of any reason. I can think of no other way how a mind can look at such a design and go "this is good design". So the bloke I blocked because he's a raging cunt at every opportunity now also ruins my LFG by virtue of simply existing. Amazing.

God have mercy on this game.

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 1 points 2 years ago

Yes. But now YOU can't see LFGs with people YOU blocked inside. Being a cunt fucks others over twice now.

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Squads someone joined that you have blocked still don't get shown to you in LFG.

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I hate how they never stop implementing cool new characters and then kill them off within the hour for shock value.

Did someone ever check that video?

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 2 points 2 years ago

We're specifically talking about legendary armour. Potentially also legendary relic.

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

IF I want the advertised core feature of the DLC, THEN I will have to do the content that rewards me with said core feature.

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 4 points 2 years ago

It's what I like to call cannibalization content. Shit low-effort content loops with vastly powerful rewards tied to them to make people play them short-term. It's a pattern that shows up whenever investors take control of subsidiaries to maximize profit.

That has nothing to do with the crowd that just likes to grind to make the number go up. Those are a thing as well, and it's completely fine. You don't need much of a carrot for those, those just enjoy the zen. The carrot you need for the people that'll drop the content like hot coal the second they're done with their armour sets.

Also, keep in mind that NCNet literally and in broad daylight repackaged Living World as "mini expansions" and sells them to us for almost full box price and people couldn't be happier. It's 2023, mate, over at LoL people are angry that they don't get enough microtransactions, and releasing beta versions has been a thing for over a decade now. Feeling old yet?

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 3 points 2 years ago (10 children)

Rifts are the biggest, most glaring evidence how NCNet went from "play as you want" to "play what we want".

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 1 points 2 years ago

It IS a thing and it IS easily exploited. Run aroud be a raging cunt, get everyone to block you then join the most popular meta trains or whatever.

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

NA LFG is more barren than EU LFG, so that might be another reason for you. Though it was a thing when I tested it. Gonna test it again to check if it's fixed.

Edit: it' s not fixed. If A is blocked by you and happens to be in a squad, that squad will not be shown to you in LFG. Doesn't matter if A is the commander or just some random bloke, people blocked by you also block squads they enter from being seen in LFG by you. It's fucking retarded.

Playing GW2 on acid. I actually enjoy the experience.

SotO can come, nothing is as welcoming as cannonballs to the face.

Me personally, I'm already bored out of my mind only by reading it, but I'll have a look and judge after getting first-hand experience.

How do others feel about dailies, weeklies, monthlies as currency grind for reward?

KROOF is pretty thrilled about it, I've linked her post as an additional source for people. The prospect of a neutered battle pass without the anti-social aspects is worth mentioning.

Slog fractals that take faaar to fucking long:

  • Siren's Reef (everything)
  • Molten Furnace (boss especially is a time waster)
  • Deepstone (that stupid riddle room serves 0 purpose whatsoever but to waste time)
  • Twilight Oasis (everything)
  • Shattered Observatiry (everything)
  • Sunqua Peak (fuck this shit)
  • Silent Surf (hey this fractal is super short but the boss takes 20 minutes because fuck you gargle our arse)

Fractals that are fine to good:

  • Aquatic Ruins (two "pre-rooms", easy and quick boss, my favourite)
  • Swampland (boss is a drag, but not half as bad as others)
  • Uncategorized (two JPs and two pre-rooms, quick and easy)
  • Solid Ocean (boss is a drag but at least you can have a wank on the side)
  • Underground Facility (quick enough if people don't suck so borderline bad)
  • Urban Battleground (kill a boss, rush through everything)
  • Snowblind (start is a drag but then you can just rush it, boss doesn't drag it out too much)
  • Chaos (I love zero waiting rooms to bore you to death)
  • Molten Boss (so rushable I love it)
  • Volcanic (start is slow but the rest is quick, so it's enjoyable)
  • Cliffside (so rushable, Mesmer Masterrace Portal Bitch)
  • Captain Mai Trin (what Silent Turf tried to be)
  • Aetherblade (so rushable, teleport through everything, do the puzzle and you're already next to the boss)
  • Nightmare (good balance between waiting rooms and bosses)

2/3 shit Fractals and the ratio becomes worse with every new one. AMA.

So the weapon beta has been up for a bit and I experimented with my main class, Mesmer. Results are meh.

Problem: only off-hand we have is shield, and shield really doesn't do much. It's probably going to find use in tanky builds, but that's it. Biggest problem: blocks are channels, so you can't do anything for several seconds on ends.

Everything else: too much tailored towards their specialisations.

  • Axe stays melee condition, sword stays melee power. Won't change anything up.

  • Dagger has slight applications in ranged power.

That's it. Dagger maybe for ranged power, under certain circumstances.

Axe Virtuoso? Dagger Mirage? Both meh. Shield with anything? Double-meh with a sigh on the side. Chrono with dagger as DPS? Can't compete with anything.

I'd hope that smarter people than me will find some applications, but I'm afraid that all that's being checked for is meta DPS, so there's probably nothing to be expected from on that front.

Dagger Ambush Spam kind of worked almost somewhat, DPS-wise. Riveting.

Less content of worse quality, but much more aggressively monetized? Half the content at the same price?

Anet axed Living World, rebranded it as "Mini Expansions" and is reselling it to us at full price. Complex mount system gets sidelined in favour of A mount to rule them all. Class skills and mechanics that have existed for years and years and years without issue are suddenly a problem and get gutted, dumbed down or removed. Classes get homogenised and simplified. Very little actually new systems get created, instead the existing game gets switched around as a much easier alternative. More focus on easy and cheap to develop daily/weekly content for whatever the current's expansion faction is.

I know that pattern.

I also know another pattern. SquareEnix. ActivisionBlizzard. NCNet.

So if you're dependend on your account-wide AR to get to 151, you'll enjoy the boss fight.

Includes a pinch of content besides the new Fractal, it seems.

Self-confident pricing for two maps.

I'm watching my crafting bar. 2.500 Bowl of Apple Sauce. Afterwards it's 2.500 Bowl of Blackberry Pear Compote, followed by 2.000 Spicier Flank Steak and 5.000 Cup of Light-Roasted Coffee.

Then I'm going to sit there watching my Portable Composter salvage 10.000 items. Then I'll turn them into 500 Pile of Enriched Compost so I have them on reserve, because it's such a fucking pain to craft them.

And that's an easy batch. Ever crafted a gen2 legendary? 20.000 Mithril, 50.000 Elder Wood?

2012 crafting system is no match for 2022+ crafting.
