Switching from big social open world bosses to strict coordinated instanced content. Drastic spike in difficulty in favour of a shift away from chill casual content. General WoWification like trinity and ~~quests~~ quest-like achievement-structure. Didn't go over well with the playerbase, and took them almost ten years to barely recover from it, if one is desperate enough to use the drought numbers as a bar instead of the pre-drought ones.

As much as I like the twist about Nayos Rifts, they managed to make Rifts even more disgusting. They were so close to somewhat fix them and then they slapped breakbars on the mobs.

Compared to pre-HoT numbers: https://i.imgur.com/Vgd7ejp.png

It's sad to see GW2 being barely able to scratch even the pre-HoT numbers of twelve month of content drought. Never mind the pre-HoT numbers during active content deployment. Took them almost ten years after their bait-and-switch.

That random Kryptis death was a new speedrun record.

Mine is still dignified/charismatic.

Yep, I agree, LFG is a mess.

It's an insane mess. Block some dude that fucks your mum in PvP, then have him join some random meta train later. This squad's LFG entry will now be hidden for you. You can't see it. Congratulations, by blocking some cunt you just limited your ability to participate in the game.

I feel like the game is being hold together by spit and voodoo.

I hope it does, I enjoy being able to create male sluts. It just seems a bit weird that my toon has giant pecs now. I'd remove his armour and check but then I have to spend five minutes picking runes and stats and infusions whatnot.

Edit: okay so I finally bothered to check on another character that didn't have legendary and no there are no magic special pecs, I'm just crazy. What a relief.

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Is it just me or does the top create massive pecs that my character wouldn't have normally?

[–] lulztard@lemmy.wtf 3 points 2 years ago

Maybe Mesmer Rifle actually becomes a heal weapon. That'd be brilliant.

Well. Not much to add to that now, is there. I'd have to start nitpicking to really find anything, so I pretty much agree across the board. All I can add is my personal interest on what really happened at Anet. I wonder if the ship's being run by scabs now or if it's just a valiant last effort to, as you said, against 100% shareholder interest. Did MO tell NCSoft to get fucked and pissed off? Was his departure part of a deal to not completely nuke Anet or the game from orbit, more than NCSoft did with IBS anyway? Considering that MO's hand-picked successor mysteriously vanished, his project got fucking murdered and that we now have a 25€ half-season I feel like things have gotten pretty dirty at some point. Unfair speculation: probably scabs that genuinely think they can do it better and don't mind rule over rubble. But what do I know, my speculations are barely more than fanfic.

Ah well, could've, should've, would've. RIP GW2, it delayed my departure from MMOs for ten years, heh. It'll at least keep being a small part of my breakfast routine.

You know what's the most fascinating thing? How the subreddit does not care in the slightest whatsoever. The same subreddit that threw an absolute rageboner at Mount Adoption Licenses, the 50€ box price of HoT, or Build Templates. But paying 25€ for half a season of LW? Fucking people are actually thrilled. Absolutely bizarre. Guess it's the 2023 gamer crowd, "kids these days" just never learned that games can come without a cash shop? Everyone just gave up and became a consoomer? Fuck me if I know.

Disclaimer: I haven't played Fractals since Anet nuked ArcTemplates. Started them half a year ago because I helped a friend and have ran them daily ever since, starting out at T1 and all the way up to T4 so my friend could learn them and get AR and whatnot. Thank the Lord for my half-static of two others who happen to always run around somewhat the same time, so I wasn't completele forlorforsaken. If I were to have to do that bollocks entirely by myself, I'd drop that shite like hot coals. And no, getting an actual static and working my day around the game is not an option.

What I noticed is the utter insanity that has taken hold of the "community". What is it with people being drastically under-AR'd trying to get into high-level fractals? It's enough of a bother to check if that 137 or 126 AR guy has enough AR for the highest-level daiyl today, because people are raging cunts and will lie straight into your face, but arguing about dodging everything with 109 AR at Silent Surf? Fucking hell.

Todays highlight was a group where two our of three PUGs ran after me, a Mesmer, at Volcanic, while the initial Grawl event was still ongoing. Yes, I was preparing the portal at 50%. Yes, one of them ran all the way back up. The other stood around like a deer in headlights and then used my portal after I gave up and went back to do it myself.

Fucking hell.

Wiki wizards aren't appreciated enough.

My pattern recognition sees knobs in every cloud, bush and pile of sticks. But the blue at Vale Guardian or Mai Trin? Simply doesn't exist for me.

I'm waiting for a fix but it seems the studio of my OS works at a tectonic speed. Is there a workaround? Only half joking...

Had the +crit Relic on my open world build because numbers, but at some point I decided to switch that up as an experiment. The Eye of Cerus removes boons from enemies it hits, boon removal is the only thing my swiss army knife open world build is lacking in a bit.

What I noticed is that my playstyle changed. And I always enjoy changes to the way I play more than I enjoy bigger numbers. That's why the nerf to Temporal Curtain enrages me to no end, because it ruins the flow of the playstyle without actually changing anything beyong turning everything clunky because fuck you. Fucking hell, I can barely CC in WvW keep balustrades anymore, that nerf broke quite literally every application of the skill. The same penchant makes me enjoy Eye of Cerus, my elite now has an additional use. An additional mechanic. Since I loathe the loss of mechanics, I naturally do usually love to gain mechanics. Popping it on a pile of enemies, on the gate to Forged with Fire, whenever I actually need boon removal, and so on, and so forth.

Cool little extra utility, that thing. I wish all Relics were like that. Obvious balance challenges notwithstanding.

Enjoy.

Figured there was something fishy for a while now and it seems I finally figured it out.

So if your meta squad of 40+ people that you're usually join is doing its round and one guy that you have blocked because he's a cunt, joins it before you do, you don't see the entire squad and can get fucked. you can still join via /squadjoin, but only if you know that it's there.

Time to run around spamming slurs to get on as many block lists as possible and then join squads, making them invisible to others.

That HAS got to be a bug.

Edit: So I've tested it a bit and it seems like it's been turned on its head. A commander blocking you does not block you from seeing his squad in LFG. But someone joining that squad that YOU have blocked, immediately removes that squad from LFG for you. Like, no refresh needed. Instantly gone for you.

Fun fact: If someone blocks YOU, you still see the squad in LFG. But as soon as YOU block someone, THAT squad where he is hin gets removed from your LFG.

Fucking hell.

Are we sure the timer at the Special Tab of the Volkswagen is an indicator for the next phase?

It was always my impression that the health of a game or certain kind of content can be measured on its playerbase during off-hours. In times of mega servers and whatnot the amount of people around you during peak means very little if anything at all. The amount of instances of the same map on the other hand...but those aren't getting shown.

SotO is quite literally exactly (one month and) one week old today.

It's half an hour later right now and I'm hanging out at the Awakened Invasion of Gendarren, which goes along nicely.

Asking for a friend. Events in a small area like a small cave would be especially grand. E.g. destroying some skull in a cave spawns (event 1) a few waves of enemies (event 2) followed by a boss (event 3), something like that.

Edit: maybe I should've specified that I'm strictly looking within core content. No DLCs or expansions...

It started with the Silent Surf Fractal and kept going with Dagda Strike. Bosses have dozens of millions of hitpoints, and NCNet only balances for the CM/hardcore crowd. E.g. Sunqua CM lore skip, Silent Surf CM boss health nerf.

Since the hardcore crowd keeps whining about things not being hard enough because of power creep, and Anet's history of listening to them, it's sensible to assume that there might be DPS nerfs across the board. Meaning that the new healthsponge approach to bosses will hit the other 90% of the playerbase even harder.

Thoughts?

Pretty sure Anet is just grieving us at this point. No studio can be so resistant to learning.

Sigh. I'll just do Arah for Forgotten Lore.

Can't find any Rifts, neither do others.
