They're probably on a different Epstein List, the one that lists the victims he trafficked.

The point is that you said "Some jewish people are white", but since we're talking about the definition of "white", that can't be true. They aren't white because they cannot be defined as white by looking at their skin color. If you simply meant "Some jewish people are pale skinned", then I'll just say that your phrasing was unintentionally misleading.

I think if your cold fusion idea were possible, Light would have used that idea. Part of the reason L got onto him was that he obviously needed to see the results of his experiments on prisoners, and the only way to see those results would be to have access to police records.

But if Light had the ability you're talking about, all he'd have to do is to tell them to do it in public. A death row inmate who escaped and then drew a giant pentagram before dying would make the news. And if the victim has access to whatever inaccessible knowledge is necessary to complete the task, then escaping would be a breeze.

Light would have been dumb to overlook something like that. He was surprisingly dumb in a lot of ways, but I think that for discovering the capabilities of the death note, he's not supposed to be dumb.

Some jewesh people are white, some aren’t, based on the parents/cultures they are brought in.

That is simply not the way that "white" is used. The skin color is a convenient excuse, but being pale skinned is not ever sufficient to actually be white. For example, if you're an albino child of black parents, very few people will consider you to be "white". Similarly, there have been times historically where, if you're ethnically Jewish, no matter how pale your skin is, you will not be considered white. Other times, they get to be white.

There are incredibly pale skinned Indian and Chinese people who, despite being whiter than most "white" people, would still be excluded from being "white".

There is no definition of "white" that you can guarantee a person will be white simply by looking at their skin color. Skin color can only exclude people from being white.

They say it's like the Death Note, and the Death Note has a time limit of something like 20 days in the future. If the Death Note cannot make whatever you wrote happen, then the victim simply dies instantly of a heart attack as a backup. As a result, you wouldn't even be able to experiment with it, because you'd be caught at the scene if you pushed the limits. You wouldn't be able to discover any technology with it.

Point being, the Death Note is simply a very sophisticated type of murder weapon. So, if this ability is like the Death Note, then it is also a type of murder weapon.

"White" is sort of inferior as a concept of a race, because it's not even a single race. Just whatever is convenient for racism. Sometimes, Jewish people are white, and sometimes they aren't, for example.

empathy? Like I should try and understand a Nazis POV… have a civilized dicussion with him/her?

At some point you need to just look the other person in the face and tell them to get fucked.

I’m rapidly approaching that point with you.

Yes, telling the other person to "get fucked" is a guaranteed way to ensure that you aren't having a civilized discussion.

And yes, MangioneDontMiss@lemmy.ca, empathy is necessary, not just to have a civilized discussion, but simply to be a human. Like, for example, I am empathizing with you here, despite your escalating rhetoric. Suddenly, it's not about us having a discussion, it's about having a discussion with a Nazi. These are the sorts of things people say when they just want to win, and they don't care how they do it. Ironically, a tactic pretty closely associated with Nazis.

The reason humans bait mouse traps with food is they have empathy for the mouse. Maybe you shouldn't throw away such a useful tool out of a desperate need to feel like you've won an argument.

!lightnovels@ani.social

I think we need to get away from the short format brain rot media that is so popular today, like TikTok and Twitter/X. And light novels are familiar and approachable. Often, people have already seen the anime or seen the manga.

For that matter, even !manga@ani.social could use more activity, and manga is even more approachable than light novels.

I recently started reading a lot of the LNs that are on "catch up" at a website called j-novel club, and it's gotten me to enjoy reading novels more.

Also, the Ascendance of a Bookworm light novel is one of my favorite things I've ever read. It's a pretty long one at 33 volumes, though.

There is a difference between delusion and steelmanning. I would argue that if you don't know how to steelman, then you're not really capable of having a civilized discussion. Civilized discussions require empathy.

Votes are private. Unless she has stated it, we simply don't know who she is voting for. She may even be in a county that is overwhelmingly red, and because of our terrible FPTP voting system, her best chance of voting for a better candidate may be in the Republican primaries.

You know, one of the things that I've liked about Lemmy compared to Reddit is that occasionally, you can have a civilized discussion here. The more people rush to judge here on Lemmy, the more toxic the platform will become.

You shouldn't dox people, and I don't know anything about Sydney Sweeney, but unless she's actively political, really, even her registered party shouldn't be worthwhile news.

It's my honest opinion that if a celebrity tries to keep their political opinions to themselves, then we should let them. We don't need to know all of the opinions of every celebrity.
