Have you considered using a podcast player which can play local files?

They are specifically built with annotations and notes and should help better in this regard. I can't give specific recommendation but you can find a good one on fdroid by searching and using some.

Android has added app archival feature for app stores starting with Android 15. Currently unobtanium does not do it since the developer has not implemented the api and necessary features to support it.

Check the difference on other phones. Try different file manager apps to see which can do the task faster. Try turning on battery saver mode – sometimes background processes can slow foreground apps.

To be consistent test 3 times in flight mode. Also, when your phone is warn/hot it can slow down drastically compared to when its cold to the touch.

UFS 3.1 is not necessarily bottleneck here. It also depends on the optimization by OEM.

According to this youtuber some brands UFS 2.2 storage outperforms UFS 3.1 storage used by other brands solely due to their software optimization. Skip the video to 04:54s to see the zip uncompression test and a few mins back to see the results of other tests.

Can you share a test file so we can compare the results and rule out a bottleneck with your device?

I can recommend Antimatter dimensitions. It does have some ads for bonus and in-app putchases. But, you absolutely can finish the game without any of it. I have an adblocker installed so receive the ad bonus without even getting an ad.

You absolutely can.

You are not tripping. That's what we all heard when android 16 was being developed. At this moment its only enabled in the android 16 QPR1 release. So uber will have to target that androids API version and add support to show them.

As for uber and uber eats already doing this. They use a custom implementation which works without using the new Live Notification API.

This is 1st time hearing about ZigBee and Z-wave. How would they work with existing electronics?

[–] limerod@reddthat.com 1 points 1 month ago (3 children)

They would need to double the costs to accommodate both 2.4GHz and 5Ghz bands if they choose the latter for backwards compatibility with electronics.

I read your smart-plug bit. But, even that's not necessary to achieve most of it since its built-in modern day washing machines.

I made that comment to highlight to others and for information purpose like yours was as a reply to "why would it connect to WiFi?" .

Voyager should be able to cache posts & comments offline. Also, have the ability to save state even if android reclaims memory from the app.

Hope this is not imposing. Voyager is a neat app but can use some refinements.

I'm on android v2.30.0 native app.

So, recently I read an article stating that apps can still access installed apps on your phone as long as they list the apps in their manifest or use intent based hacks. Unfortunately, the app I use to restrict permissions (App OPS) does not have any measure against this.

Is there anything that can be done from adb, etc to restrict an app's ability to view other apps?

The article in question, it talks about indian apps but the info it shared should apply globally: https://peabee.substack.com/p/everyone-knows-what-apps-you-use

Pros

  • Lightweight, grippy and durable build with IP68/69 and MIL-STD-810H certifications.
  • Bright OLED panel with HDR10+ support.
  • Very loud and nice-sounding speakers.
  • Solid camera performance.
  • Dependable battery life, fast charging.
  • Hard-to-find connectivity features (SmartConnect), microSD card slot.

Cons

  • The chipset could be more powerful for the price.
  • Camera app can be laggy and unresponsive at times.
  • Ultrawide camera has focus-hunting issues during video recording.
  • No charger in the box (in some markets).

I downloaded and successfully setup buzzkill. Then a day or two later found FilterBox. It was created at the same time as buzzkill but has AI spam filtering – I'm guessing a traditional algorithm for spam filtering used in emails and not an an actual LLM.

So, why is it not recommended more instead of buzzkill.

Tap for spoilerOn ~~reddit~~..
It also has a nice UI and supports analytics for your notifications history. Also has double the downloads of buzzkill. Although, buzzkill has a simple UI.

The algorithm spam filtering which is based on your recommendation is neat. Especially, since you do not need to manually create rules for each and every spam message/notification across messaging apps.

What are your thoughts?

Since I just paid for buzzkill and did a thorough setup I hesitate to jump ship. But, spam filtering is enticing. For those 10-20% of use cases which cannot be filtered by regular rules unless you keep on adding more.

The sync developer has been MIA for a long time (1 year or longer) and I fear it will stop working sooner or later when Lemmy instances start updating to v1.0 in future.

I use Sync because it has a nice Material you theme, is smooth, supports caching posts & media offline (also keeps the comments, posts loaded even if android reclaims memory from the app)

I can open posts, comments, and even communities in a seperate window if I choose to do so.

Anything with multi window support out there yet? I used voyager for posting. But, want sync like multi window capabilities.

TL;DR

  • Google is working on a change to Android’s early boot process that improves how quickly kernel modules are loaded.
  • This change has resulted in a 30% reduction in loading time for the Pixel 10, according to a Google engineer.
  • As a result of this change, the Pixel 10 and other Android devices should boot up slightly faster, though it’s unclear how much of a difference it’ll make.

So, an acquaintance of mine has a malware which shows an ad every once a while especially when you install apps.

It's hiding in settings with an icon and name called "Settings". It has no icon in the launcher. It cannot be uninstalled. It has acquired device admin settings and even that cannot be revoked. Google play protect warns of this malware but even play protect does not have enough permissions to actually remove it for good.

I tried to enable developer options to nuke it via adb. Unfortunately, developer options are blocked with a pop-up saying Device managed by your organization.

Outside of official service center visit. Or reflashing the stock firmware. Are there any ways the malware can be deleted?

I have advised to get it fixed from the place he bought.

TL;DR

  • Multiple Pixel phone users are reporting significant boosts in Geekbench GPU scores after updating to the Android 16 beta.
  • Android Authority can confirm that Pixel phones are performing better in this benchmark since launch, but that this is also the case on the most recent Android 15 stable release.
  • The reason for this performance increase hasn’t been confirmed but likely has to do with recent GPU driver updates.

TL;DR

  • Google has added a tabbed interface to the Terminal app in Android 16 Beta 3.
  • The Terminal app lets you run Linux apps in a virtual machine on your Android device.
  • Adding tabs makes it easier to multitask, as you can issue commands without having to wait for a process to complete.

TL;DR

  • Google Play Store has started rolling out a new “Pause” feature for Play Protect, allowing users to temporarily disable app security scans.
  • Unlike the previous “Turn off” option, the new feature automatically reactivates Play Protect the next day, reducing the risk of users forgetting to turn it back on.
  • This update should help protect Android users from malware and scams while still allowing them to sideload apps without long-term security risks.
