Nothing is stopping you to register on multiple and see how each one feels, then stick to the one you like most. Instances with application process tend to have a bit more curated user bases and that's reflected in conversations where they participate. You could try lemmy.world, Beehaw.org, lemmy.ml, or any other instance.
It's already monetised. Just click on the links under Donations in the main sidebar or straight to the OpenCollective page for a glimpse. We pay for it with our money. That's how we know we're not the product.
I'm not ecstatic about them using ADATA but I hope QC and good chip selection could eliminate any significant issues.

This reminds me of the killer feature of Google+ - Circles. The abilities to trivially share "follow lists." Adding Blocklist sharing to it makes perfect sense. Both of these are features Mastodon might want to implement.

Great perspective. Unfortunately we can't change the past. We can only do what we can to help the people, the environment, alive today and that will live tomorrow. We have to uncover and keep the knowledge of the past to inform what and how we do.
Cue in the impending wave of repair problems with the proliferation and aging of Bosch ebike drive units. Unfortunately AFAIK none of the alternatives are any better at that, and Bosch at least has a lot of repair available at local bike shops. Also Bosch'es units are fairly reliable.
Oh yes please.. please, please do it. I have some choice words about leaf blowing in general but this will be a marked improvement all else being equal.
