While the effect of not having as much random porn on steam is kinda nice
There's a box you have to check in your settings to even see it. Just turn that off if you don't want to see it.

It's not about porn, It's about corporations dictating what type of content can be sold. You may not care about porn but what if they were to start going after LGBT stuff or something like that?
I've started getting captcha every time I do a Google search. Not sure what that's about but it's made the decision to pursue alternatives easy.
My Firefox is set up to more aggressively block sites from doing stuff and clear my cookies. I use Brave for when something breaks or if I want the site to track my preferences, like for YouTube.
Anything that keeps hack journalists from getting paid is a winning strategy.
Tech is better
Tech was only better until like maybe 2015-2016. We're a solid decade into enshitification across the board. I can't even find a phone I actually want to replace mine that is finally failing after 8 years and the car situation isn't looking much better, fortunately I don't have to deal with that for a while (hopefully).
oh, I only saw the one post about it and no one had mentioned it was a porn bot. I thought it was just some stupid image elon had generated. I don't reward clickbaity headlines with clicks until I know theres something worthwhile in them.
my database is synced to all my devices. I selfhost nextcloud for that but you can use whatever service you want. I used to use dropbox and manually transferred the key file so it never touched their servers.
Theres one for every generation.
If you're relying on one hard drive not failing to preserve your data you are doing it wrong from the jump. I've got about a dozen hard drives in play from seagate and WD at any given time (mostly seagate because they're cheaper and I don't need speed either) and haven't had a failure yet. Backblaze used to publish stats about the hard drives they use, not sure if they still do but that would give you some data to go off. Seagate did put out some duds a while back but other models are fine.
Keeppass is pretty simple if you want to keep corporations out of your shit.
Tax the fuck out of products that aren't repairable but should be.
