Thanks. But that is probably the Proton mail app that Izzy downloaded from Proton. Years ago Tutanota made changes to their app to DeGoogle it, and then F-Droid could include it. I'm a kind of DeGoogle person trying to avoid Google as much as possible and that is the reason I am asking when the Proton Mail app will be in the main F-Droid repo.

I think I saw that Proton said in 2020 that the Proton Mail app would come to F-Droid. Sadly I cannot find that information any more. I thought about deleting my Proton mail account today but before doing so ask here about the state of a possible F-Droid app. Yes, I could ask the Proton people, and could also ask the F-Droid forum people but Lemmy feels most comfortable right now.

spy.net harvested Discord data. Quad9 is probably not amused. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quad9#Security_and_privacy

This sounds over the top to me.

I don’t care if I have support from others or not. I’m already used to never having my voice heard or being rejected, it makes no difference.

I see no problems with this part of the previous comment. It can be fine to live like a hermit or a fool on the hill. The Buddha gave up everything and didn't care what others said.

Yes, maybe all those commenters could be simply called self-censored vendor locked in. This is also not the first time Google has been firing critical voices, it is quite frankly tempting to say "it happens all the time".

So I assumed the SSD was internal but it is external and there is also a Windows installation involved (Apologies for not reading your long post slowly and carefully). I have a whole bunch of USB sticks here. One has Ventoy with several Linux iso files on them. A few others are for BSD or something else. I'd like to suggest once again to buy another small USB stick and use Tails on that to learn some more Linux while everything else is still safe. Easy peasy and no rocket science involved πŸ™‚ Then later figure out the Windows/Fedora dual boot.

That's quite a statement but I mostly agree with it.

πŸ™‚ Thank you for softening the pain.

Could not have said it better.

You're going off-topic from the OP question :-) But to answer your new question : I do not trust Matrix enough when it comes to privacy. I know that this link is old but still. https://disroot.org/en/blog/matrix-closure

Then again I do not trust Signal that much either but sometimes compromises need to be made to get things done. With XMPP the end user can host their own server if they wish to, without meta data going to a centralized point. And video calls via XMPP and Conversations were a pleasure to use when I used it during the Covid-19 pandemic.
