An alternative is to use pipx : https://pipx.pypa.io/stable

Overview: What is pipx?

pipx is a tool to help you install and run end-user applications written in Python. It's roughly similar to macOS's brew, JavaScript's npx, and Linux's apt.

It's closely related to pip. In fact, it uses pip, but is focused on installing and managing Python packages that can be run from the command line directly as applications. How is it Different from pip?

pip is a general-purpose package installer for both libraries and apps with no environment isolation. pipx is made specifically for application installation, as it adds isolation yet still makes the apps available in your shell: pipx creates an isolated environment for each application and its associated packages.

pipx does not ship with pip, but installing it is often an important part of bootstrapping your system.

In this case I would download the deb from here (Click on Mantic, and scroll down to files and find your architecture you use and download the file : https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=libfreerdp2 and install it with dpkg -i If that installs successfully then continue your upgrade attempt.

Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 are end-of-life and shouldn't be used anymore due to lack of security patches for firmware and drivers. We provide extended support for harm reduction.

You can go to https://keyserver.ubuntu.com in your browser and then use the Search key option and then download the public key (pub entry). Then use gpg --import 0000000000111111112222222222222.asc where 0000000000111111112222222222222.asc is the name of the downloaded public key file.

What phone should I buy for max 150.- (around 180$) second hand?

e.foundation by means of Murena sells phones with /e/os installed. Cheapest currently at discount about $200 but is out of stock last time I looked. e.foundation did sell refurbished phones (and does ?) but the price were always over $200 I think.

Nice. For folks who wouldn't need a lot of storage space I guess this could make a nice rather low budget Libreboot computer.

lol i thought you EU boys’ government was so amazing and cared so much about privacy! lol!

You will not hear me bragging or applauding about EU except that the GDPR did bring about some positive changes. And if you ask me I wonder what is happening with all the millions of money from the fines that EU gave to Big Tech companies. EU basically claims that they have no money to keep a Fediverse server running. Puzzling.

If you're in the EU you can vote and help to make some of them go away with the coming elections which are pretty soon.

Like the other commenter said you are probably fine. If you still worry, backup your /home and go for a fresh install and restore /home.

For backup and restore :

To move from CentOS to sometimes very similar look at Rocky Linux or Alma Linux. There may even be seamless migration methods for it.

Updated Google's latest round of layoffs have hit engineers working on its Flutter and Python teams.

Despite Alphabet last week reporting a 57 percent year-on-year jump in net profit to $23.66 billion for calendar Q1, more roles are being expunged as the mega-corp cracks down on costs.

The Python team is reportedly affected and an undisclosed number of Flutter and Dart engineers have been let go.

A Reddit account under the name of Kevin Moore, a Google Product Manager for Flutter and Dart, posted: "The layoffs were decided AT LEAST a couple of layers above our team and affected a LOT of teams. (I think I can say that.)

"Lots of good folks got bad news and lots of great projects lost people. Flutter and Dart were not affected any more or less [than] others. It was a tough day... tough week."

Today I learned that the third line in the sudo warning was only added in 2004. Is there perhaps a clear event of history facts or cultural changes between 1993 and 2004 that made the software developers add that line ?

  • For instance a (silly?) made up example : Monty Python became very popular on TV in some countries where the software developers lived and improved critical thinking for some.
