Dear Daily Beast:
Please pause all Trump Approval Rating articles until his approval hits Ceaucescu levels.
Then, by all means, loop me in! Live coverage would be best.

This is crazy, but i read the news on paper. I have a couple of subscriptions to magazines with good reporting, but you could also hit up your library to read for free. For one thing, print journalism is a lot more in-depth and balanced than the outrage-mill crap i find online.
On Lemmy i read headlines only in case something happens that i stay current, but i rarely read a whole article. This contains my news consumption to a small portion of my day.
Plus, Trump says 64 stupid lthings a week. I read all 64 in 1 hour each week and get it over with, instead of poisoning myself with it several times a day.
Canada, too. For the last two years, Canada has entrusted sensitive statistical information to Microsoft. We should be treating MS with the same skepticism we currently reserve for Huawei.
Trump, probably: “I am giving you 50 days to feed those starving infants.”
Agreed. The position of the conservatives who espouse such beliefs is incoherent. They have a whole mythology surrounding the importance of entrepreneurs that doesn’t take markets into account. For many of them, the most advanced economic text they have ever read was an Ayn Rand novel.
Donald Trump, probably: “Hey, who planted my dick in all these underage girls?”
Oh, Vladimir V. Putin. I thought you were referring to the other Putin.
Yeah, I think this is what they mean. It is a form of poor bashing: poor people don’t invest their money to create jobs, grow the economy, etc. I have a friend who is very susceptible to this type of right-wing propaganda, and i had to point out that rich people can only invest a large portion of their income because their basic needs are (abundantly) met.
Yes. My son has a genetic disorder and receives care from my country’s socialized medical system. Donald Trump has threatened to annex my country. I would not be able to afford the treatments that keep my son alive under Trump. I boycott American goods like my child’s life depends on it. People need to understand that Trump’s threats towards the USA’s former allies imply deadly consequences. Fuck Trump, fuck maga, and fuck anyone who supports them by buying their shitty goods. Unless you have absolutely no choice, don’t buy American.
Yep. My country just had an election and our far-right party promised to destroy our public broadcaster if elected. It would have left us with nothing but American bullshit and billionaire-owned media. Thankfully, they lost. But just by a hair.
Same. One legitimate criticism of how rich people interact with the economy is that rich people have a tendency to hoard their money instead of pumping it back into the economy. Spending all your dough may look tacky and ostentatious, but it creates more jobs than piling it up in a vault.
So this guy's thinking is contorted in fascinating ways. I am starting to wonder, though, does being a bad thinker make you more likely to be racist? Or does racism harm your thinking? Both?
