a boolean named is_person_standing seems fine when person states other than standing don’t matter to the program, except for the fact they are not standing.

which leads to: name the boolean based on the thing relevant to what you’re building (this applies to other variable types, as well).

fun fact: I’m pretty sure I’m closer to 196cm now, thanks to HRT’s effects on my back muscles effectively rearranging my pelvis and spine a bit.

I think it'd be rude to just tell someone they're visibly trans without them asking, but I think as a thing to discuss in the abstract it's totally fine. it also doesn't necessarily mean "not passing", it could also mean "wearing trans pride clothes / pins / jewelry / etc."

It took me a full two rereadings to realize this article is somehow trying to cast Greta in a negative light.

I feel like I'll always regret spending my 20s trying so desperately to live up to everyone's expectations while disregarding my own.

I feel this in my bones. I frequently wish I'd spent less of my late teens and twenties trying to be a good christian boy and more figuring out who I actually am, instead of pushing all that so deep down that I didn't even realize it was there until I started deprogramming in my late 20s and finally ran across the concept of non-cis gender identities in my early 30s.

I've tried different types of safety razor and different blades. so far the Leaf razor with three blades irritates my skin the least.

well, technically a straight razor irritates my skin the least, if you don't count all the little nicks and cuts as irritation. but I CBA to straight razor shave multiple times a week.

huh, that's pretty cool! unfortunately, the issue is largely (1) the beard makes me feel icky, which I'm trying to learn to ignore, and (2) people in western society instantly lose any perception of androgyny or femininity when facial hair is involved.

mine is so coarse that even a shave with a good razor doesn't get it all.

ugh, same here – if I shave with enough passes to actually get smooth skin, I'll also end up taking off a layer of skin (or, if I'm really unlucky, I'll lose some skin but still have patches of particularly hardy hair).
