I mean I know that !homelabsales@lemmy.world exists but including my post there are two submissions. I guess I was wondering if there was a more active community that I missed. So far things have been really inactive.

That sucks. I barely even played the original. Only just sort of got into multiplayer gaming.

I heard you still can through the beta tab?

It's the ultimate cash grab in my opinion. Just imagine how much faster the SSD will wear out from all the swap that'll be needed. The SOLDERED SSD.

I'm not dismissing it just critiquing. There is a reason I'm still rocking this late-2013 MacBook Pro. Apple MacBook Pro 2016 and onwards are a total showstopper for me for an evolving list of reasons.

I use my laptop for an almost equal share of movies/tv and general work/programming. So black bars being bigger are potentially annoying. The speaker downgrade is also not great, not that things are great on this machine either. Stupid rubber has disintegrated and the speakers are now worthless.

However the measly 3 ports on the framework when you using the powersupply is a reason I'm holding off. Given that I understand the architectural limitations, all I'm asking for from framework is two builtin usb-c ports running at 2.0 speeds with PD support. I think there would be room at the back between the rear-most module and the display. This means I can charge from either side and have 5 ports left over. 4 hi-speed ports and 1 usb 2.0. That plus bringing the new dual driver speakers from the new 16" would make me very happy.

Heck even Apple backpedaled on only 4 usb-c ports in 2020. It's too low a number of ports.

Maybe. What I'd like more is a 16:10 display and one or two more built in ports. 4 ports with one being taken by a charger when not using a dock (read dongle) is too restrictive. I would also like to see the dual driver speakers backported from the 16" framework. I like my late-2013 MacBook Pro form factor alot.

When scrolling through calls and chats it will jump around like it would with a damaged touchscreen. However the top slider with the quick toggles scrolls fine. So the touchscreen is not damaged but some apps behave like it is. I think I'm due for another reinstall.

Do you follow the rolling updates or reimage each major version?

I continue to use the Pinephone because I bawk at the price vs longevity of hardware build quailty and software shovelware. Also the loss of features on mainstream smartphones such as the oooooh sd card and headphone jack. It's asine that these are considered "hard to find" and "features". The icing on the cake is parts availability. I break the screen, I install a new one in like a minute if I'm speed running it and all without any parts serialization.

I bought in right as the pro had launched but software was still in it's infancy. So I look forward to the Pro when I can afford it.

Oh fuck Facebook. I haven't given them a cent. But there is no denying the amazing game studios they bought out for exclusives. Such as Ready at Dawn's Lone Echo. One of the best VR games period. I think I'll try to virtualize that specific use case and use linux for more gaming.

I will never buy a Quest. I am currently running first gen HTC Vive and my only savoir is the Valve Decard. Hang on gotta hit the copium.

My Apple Music vs Spotify argument is Spotify is a shitty excuse electron app that hogs compute and battery on my mac laptop. Compare that to even iTunes and it was an easy choice.

Yep. It has screwed up album art and as a very visual person it has really fucked my ability to browse through my library. Also the older the album/song was added, the more broken tracks there are.

As a result I am now working to switch away from Apple Music and streaming in general. I was perfectly happy paying the student price for Apple Music. However with it increasingly breaking my library and needing me to conduct "library maintenance" to keep up with their licensing issues. Well fuck that.

Second the need for a smaller option. I use it on postmarketOS but it's buggy as hell. Is scrolling through the SMS app broken for you as well?
