[–] kurobita@feddit.cl 4 points 1 month ago

Ok so I finally took the plunge and I'm knitting my first pair of socks. Ever. I'm doing fingering held double because less stitches 😂

Pattern: DK Weight Vanilla Socks Yarn: locally dyed mering sock fingering

I'm following the vanilla socks on magic loop video tutorial by Crazy Sock Lady and it's helped sooo much. I suck at understanding written instructions (probably because english is not my first lanuage) so seeing it done has made things much easier.

I can now totally understand why socks are such a big thing lol.

Pattern: Sugar Maple by Carina Spencer Thread: Katia Polynesia Gradient #305

This is my first time knitting a proper clothing item and I'm so happy! The pattern has been really easy to follow and for the first time all my stitch counts match the pattern 😅 (I usually end up with 1-2 stitches more -or less-).

I was thinking of getting a spare yarn in a color similar to the teal at the end to lengthen the tee into more of a mini-dress, but I've been having a hard time finding one locally lol. We'll see :)

What you been up to this week?

This was the project I took with me on vacation and it kept me busy during my 3 weeks in Spain. I started knitting it in Santiago, fittingly (however it was technically Spring and not Otoño/Fall lol). Though I 'finished' it mid-trip, I decided I did not liked how it turned out so I frogged it and started all over again. I did less repeats of the garter stitch section and added more repeats of the lace section.

Gratuitous image of me knitting on the train from Barcelona to Figueres:

As seen previously here and here.

Pattern (in Spanish): https://ravel.me/spring-shawl-24

Finally finished my Spring Shawl last week and blocked over the weekend. I thought I wouldn't have any chance to use it because it's technically Spring here, but it's been surprisingly cold so I've been able to wear it and LOVE IT. Everyone compliments it and I feel super proud, even though there are some mistakes here and there that probably only I can see xD

This week I've spent more time untangling this damn cake than actually crocheting. So I finally gave up and re-wound the leftover thread into a smaller ball. Much better.

I hope to be able to finish and block this weekend. Fingers crossed!

No doggo in this pic because I took it before leaving for work and she was still sleeping.

My first post here! I'm doing my first shawl with slow transition yarn. I learnt crochet when I was a kid but I had never done such a big project. I work full time so I run home every day to get some rows done lol. Now that my shawl has grown a bit since taking these pictures that means 2-3 rows a day, but oh well, no rush here :)

Crocheted with YarnArt Flowers in #262 with 3.0mm (D?) hook. Pattern at Ravelry (in Spanish): http://ravel.me/spring-shawl-24

Edited: Added theme to title, thanks for the nudge @thegiddystitcher@lemm.ee :)

I made this as a birthday present for a friend. It is my first succesful project using circular needles. I used 5mm needles, with 40cms cable for the body of the beanie, then switched to a 120cm cable and used the magic loop technique for the decreases.

It is mt first time trying this "bubble" stitch and I was so nervous doing the K4B and 'undoing' stitches lol.

Yarn is worsted weight Dreams in color 0002 from local store Revés Derecho

Pattern here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mermaid-bubbles-hat

I made a crochet garland for a friend's son and decided to use some of the leftover yarn for a matching beanie.

I based it off loosely from a pattern in spanish, but it's very simple. I cast off 90 stitches (88 for the square pattern + 2 as edge), then 6cms (or 12 rows) of 2x2 ribbing. For the squared pattern I alternated knit and purl stiches. After 5 stripes of squares I began decreasing and then closed the cap and sew.

The pattern used circular needles and I reeeeeally wanted to make it work as an approach to knitting in the round for cowls, shawls and what not but I just couldn't get it. After struggling a whole weekend and literally undoing/redoing the thing 20 times I said "eff this" and switched to straight needles.

I need a knitting in the round knitting for dummies :(

On Saturday I finished this headband that I did for a friend, just in time to give to her when we met on Sunday. I used some leftover yarn and got juuuuuust enough to finish at 50cms long and sew

I had fun making this project, the rows are short enough I could memorize them and knit without the pattern at hand so it was a great project to carry around.

Pattern: Thicket Headband by Mirella Moments

I knew I was forgetting something this morning when I left for work 😅 I'll add a comment later with a picture of what I'm currently working on because I don't bring my knitting to work, sadly. In the meantime, feel free to add to this thread with what is keeping you up past your bedtime this week 😉

Hello knitters! Here's for another version of WIP Wednesday, feel free to reply to this thread with your own Work In Progress.

What project has kept you up past your bedtime this week? As for myself I decided to start a 'quick' project, a headband for a friend who loves red. Pattern is the Thicket Headband by Mirella Moments. I'm loving headbands for quick & easy projects and this is a fun twist to the usual cable design.

Yarn is something my mom had in her stash, it's was the only red-ish yarn I could find but since it was a little too thin for the pattern I decided to knit it double.

Hi! I suggested to our lovely mod @thegiddystitcher@lemm.ee about starting a WIP (Work in Progress) Wednesday thread. That way we don't have to wait until we're fully done with a project to share it and we can encourage each other along the way 😄

Feel free to add to this thread with what you're currently working on 😊

I had to reaaally dig up a picture, as I'm the one with the ideas but actually really bad at taking WIP pictures as I usually knit late at night 😅

This was my first try at knitting in the round and even though every pattern warns about not twisting your stitches I actually didn't realize what it meant until I was several rows into my work. In the spirit of Bob Ross I decided to just roll with it, there are no mistakes, just happy accidents!

Pattern is the Meila Cowl from Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/meila-cowl

Yarn used is Colors by Reves Derecho in #0837 (DK weight) and 5mm circular needles (unknown brand, my mother had them in her stash lol).
