I also had this problem where touch scrolling on Firefox selects text instead (on ubuntu). It does however work OOTB for me on fedora, so it's the main distro on that machine.

I had a similar story, except it was RH 5.x. I've been a faithful ubuntu user, but am seriously thinking of hopping to fedora considering how snappy it is (yet still delivering a fiction free experience).

Tabby seems to get a lot of hate in the comments here, but I enjoy it for the following reasons:
- it looks consistently on all platforms
- it has a nice working sync of connection profiles (even of ssh keys...encrypted!)
- its opensource
Yes, it is built on electron-crappie, but for someone who jumps across different workstations with multiple hosts with their own configurations, tabby is very straightforward.
Could the sync be done with other means? Sure, but I won't bother since tabby offers that OOTB and I can get up and running in 5 minutes from a fresh install.
If you want something hosted with full privacy, yet importable in the standard calendar apps, then I don't think you'll find anything for the time being.
Protonmail and tutanota both provide full privacy and are hosted options, but they require their own apps since they want to ensure reliable E2EE. I suppose you either need to re-evaltuate your requirements or wait for a suiitable product to be launched.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I belive the reason why SMS was dropped was because of the unreliable interaction between two endpoints: If you're communicating with a contact over RCS in Google messages, and you'd send them a message over signal- they'd receive an SMS. But throttling reply would be over RCS and signal wouldn't be able to display that since there isn't an open API for signal to interact with RCS messages. So the whole reason to drop SMS support was due to inconsistencies of how messages in androids would be handled.

I have ubuntu on a surface go 1 and it's running better than stock windows (except for IR camera). On the SP7 it was working decently on the latest ubuntu release - even the WiFi OOTB. However, touch screen wasn't working (ootb - custom kernel can enable it) and that was a deal breaker for me. I still need windows to boot from USB (!) as the device was designed this way, so don't count on being totally defenenestraded. You will need windows for firmware updates too.

I agree with every point. The last paragraph doesn't have to be a problem though: telegram has very open and really nice APIs and enjoys a lot of FOSS 3rd party apps (only matched by matrix). Of course, we can only enjoy that as long the API usage is still free to use...
