Not an actual option, of course, just to get them to remember the saying "Be careful what you wish for..."

Just found the response:

Dear President Trump and the Republican Party of the United States,

Canada is a federation of 10 provinces, each with sovereignty equal to, if not greater than, the states in your Union, whose sovereignty and rights you are such great champions of.

Therefore Canada would not become the 51st state. It would become the 51st, 52nd, 53rd, 54th, 55th, 56th, 57th, 58th, 59th and 60th states. Each with two senators and a proportional number of representatives in Congress.

Your kind offer of joining your Union has been accepted. Please prepare accommodations for 20 new senators and dozens of new representatives, and kindly inform Senator John Thune and Congressman Mike Johnson there will be new elections for Senate majority leader and Speaker of the House.

Please do not worry about security for the new senators and representatives, which will be provided by units of Joint Task Force 2 that will be arriving shortly in the DC Metro area.

Looking forward to working with you,

Yours truly,

Canada

Shares in Franco-British satellite operator Eutelsat (ETL.PA), opens new tab soared as much as 650% during the week ending March 7, due to speculation the company could replace Starlink in providing internet access to Ukraine. The shares pulled back on Friday to end the week up around 380%.

One analysis of the current Trump regime is that its very unpredictability is a way of demonstrating its power.

But if someone could predict the next moronic thing the Trump regime would do, they could make an absolute killing on the markets.

Which makes me wonder if someone in the regime is making a killing on the markets...

I wonder whatever happened with Musk's claims that companies not advertising on Xitter was illegal collusion.

A quick Qwant search later: it seems he's expanded the suit: https://www.npr.org/2025/02/01/nx-s1-5283271/elon-musk-lawsuit-advertisers-boycott-new

Unfortunately, his abuse has already SLAPPed down the original group behind the assessment that led to the boycott, but now that the world's bestest genius evar has decided to also take on (check article) Lego, Nestlé, Tyson Foods, Abbott Laboratories, Colgate-Palmolive, Pinterest and Shell International?

Hopefully, he's bitten off more than he can chew.

The wording of Ogles' amendment proposal would prevent previous consecutive two-term presidents, such as Barack Obama or George W. Bush, from running for a third term.

Democracy-haters trying to game the system and move the goalposts in a way that specifically benefits themselves or their dear leader? This is my surprised face.

You: "I think people in the US should benefit from universal healthcare."

US Govt: "You are under arrest for activities aligned to Luigi Mangione."

I’d love to see Renault, Citreon, and BYD here.

I guess China's somewhat different approach to establishing a leader personality cult, intimidating its neighbours and suppressing women & minorities is... paying off?
