The article fails to mention that the very existence of Arlington National Cemetery is a "woke" snub to racist traitors:

  • the land was taken from Robert E. Lee, the racist general who chose his racism over his oath to his country, and from his wife
  • it was needed because the existing military cemeteries were full, thanks to... racists like Lee who chose their racism over their country

The first "fuck you" at Arlington to the racist traitor Lee was to establish a village for freed people in the southern section, with a school and fields to farm. Called "Freedman's Village", naturally.

Later came the cemetery honouring those killed by the racist traitors, once the government prevented the racist traitor's wife's agent from paying back taxes.

However, in the late 1880s, the government evicted the villagers.

I see however that the official cemetery webpage on the Freedman's Village is still up: https://www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/Explore/History-of-Arlington-National-Cemetery/Freedmans-Village

Also the National Park Service page about the village: https://www.nps.gov/arho/learn/historyculture/emancipation.htm

Although in the ultimate "fuck you" to the villagers, it's part of the "Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial" site. Because racist traitors wrote a law that said that racist traitor and killer of Americans was "a great American, and a truly great man through the simple heritage of his personal traits of high character, his grandeur of soul, his unfailing strength of heart" who deserved a memorial.

There is a resolution to change that, https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/119/hjres63/text , but in a Congress full of people who wished they lived in the Confederate States rather than the United States, I doubt it will pass.

As a child he was homeschooled

I think that's the bigger red flag.

Newbie here, I too would like to know more about resolution, compression etc. I found this: https://pixelfed.ca/site/kb/sharing-media , but it doesn't answer some specific questions I have.

When does pixelfed.ca change (compress, resize, change file format etc) an uploaded file?

Is there any way to keep certain files in original format/resolution?

  • I've shared a few screenshots in PNG format, which got recompressed as blurry JPGs. E.g. 66kb PNG to 33KB JPG. I had already cropped or resized the images to reduce file size but they got recompressed anyway.

I uploaded a smaller video (1.2MB MP4) that does not seem to have been recompressed. What about larger video files?

  • I have a 10MB MP4 video that I'd like to upload. In this case, I might actually like some recompression; I tried doing it myself with a couple of onine services and then Handbrake, but I only ended up with larger file sizes.

You're welcome :)

Obscure distros vary in difficulty, some are quite easy, but generally the more obscure they are, the less chance of support through forums, chat rooms etc. That's the main reason why I personally moved from more obscure to more popular (Mint).

Vanilla OS is still pretty obscure (it has Wikipedia pages in only 2 languages, Spanish and German), but I think it's designed to be pretty unbreakable by noobs. (I haven't tried it yet, so can't vouch for that.)

Interesting, thanks.

I didn't really know anything about AT Protocol. The idea & potential of the PDS sounds great. The centralized control of the PLC directory is concerning.

Great film, even if not the most scientifically realistic. When lockdown came, binged on this, Containment, Residue etc.

It's beer. How many ways are there to say "it gets you tipsy and tastes a bit better than piss"?

That's messed up.

Denmark has a quiet word with Novo Nordisk to, uh, 'modify' the appetite-suppressing efficacy of Ozempic/Wegovy, increasing demand for Danish eggs, butter cookies and bacon, and augmenting Denmark's bargaining position.

And surrenders Solvang to the Danish crown.
