Is there an effedupmovies site? All I can find are lists on other sites (Letterboxd, IMDB, Ranker etc).

Jennifer's Body was impressive enough (when I saw it on a whim years after it came out) that I looked up its writer (Diablo Cody) and what else she'd done. Which led me to Young Adult. Wow! And: Ooof! Powerful stuff.

Or as one critic put it: "Young Adult may be the year's most engaging feel-bad movie".

Used to love watching Moviedrome, where Repo Man's director Alex Cox would introduce some amazing cult films and what he loved about them.

How did I not know this???

  • Searches for "slinger" in... the usual places ;) : "Ooh boy, that's a lot of porn!"
  • Searches for "cyborg" in the usual places : "OK; now I see one or two results are 'Director's Cut'."

Thanks, I'm going to check it out!

During early pandemic, I watched/rewatched a whole bunch of mid-80s to late-90s action flicks (action's heyday?) and remember Drive not just as great fun but one of a whole slew that had that same... exercise machine?

The one with three concentric rings, and you strap into the middle and spin around in all directions. I think Universal Soldier, Fortress and a bunch more had it too. I should have turned it into a drinking game, as it seemed to be crammed into every 90s sci-fi flick.

Here's my terrible attempt at drawing what I mean.

Does anyone know what it's called?

I don't know how Rutger Hauer went from arthouse fare like Turkish Delight to straight-to-video action flicks... but I'm damn glad he did!

Another one for the Rutger b-movie pile: Split Second.

Well, there goes my next 28 free evenings!

(Well, 26. I watched Radioactive Dreams last week, and rewatched Cyborg a few months ago.)

Recently watched Pyun's Radioactive Dreams (his post-apocalyptic coming-of-age hardboiled detective sci-fi musical!) Post in Lemmy B-Movie Bonanza.

I tried watching Knights a few week ago but the... "copy" I got switched from English to French about ten minutes in. :D I'll try another source soon.

“In Hanoi, I understood more about Marxist theory than my interrogator did,” Stockdale explained. “I was able to say to that interrogator, ‘That’s not what Lenin said; you’re a deviationist.’’’

The backbone and the funny bone!

I hope at least some of us will display such character as the Dear Leader tries to cement his grip on the country's institutions, media et cetera.

When I tried URLCheck last year, somehow all I could get was the opposite: all other links required an extra step before I could open them in Firefox, whereas YouTube links went straight through to official YouTube app (when I wanted them to go to PipePipe).

Maybe I should try it again and see if I can get it working right this time.

I'd say "¿Por qué no los dos?" but that might get me abducted and kept in a concentration camp in El Salvador.

And they like that he licenses them to be just as shitty to people.
