Tubi used to have movies in English here in Mexico, but now they're all dubbed in Spanish. But I've read up the other Monsterdon info on viewing movies, and I'm comfortable sailing the high seas.
spoiler
For Monsterdon, do "monsters of the id" count? ;)
Re info here https://wiki.neuromatch.social/Monsterdon - OK, I managed to subscribe to the #monsterdon live Peertube channel via my instance. I've also searched Lemmy and remembered #monsterdon gets posted to c/BMovieBonanza a lot, but comparing the two I think the Peertube channel hasn't been updated for a month or so.
Also I don't see Forbidden Planet there, although the screenshot of 'Turkish Star Wars' features a very Robbyesque robot :D
Also #2, I don't have a Mastodon account. Still not sure how the various fediverse services (and even different instances on the same service) interact. If someone posts with the #monsterdon hashtag, will I see it on Lemmy? No idea where. Guess I'll just have to get a Mastodon account just to be sure.
I don't speak German but I'm pretty sure "schmecken mein lieber" is dirty.
At least, I know I'll be saying it the next time I get laid.
Reminds me of Daryl Davis.
In 1983, he was playing country western music in a "white" bar in Frederick, Maryland, when a patron came up to him and said it was the first time he had "heard a black man play as well as Jerry Lee Lewis". Davis explained to the man that "Jerry Lee learned to play from black blues and boogie-woogie piano players and he's a friend of mine". The white patron was skeptical and over a drink admitted he was a member of the KKK. The two became friends and eventually the man gave Davis contact information on KKK leaders.
A few years later, Davis decided that he wanted to interview Klan members and write a book on the subject, to answer a "question in my head from the age of 10: 'Why do you hate me when you know nothing about me?' That question had never been answered from my youth".
Davis eventually went on to befriend over twenty members of the KKK, and claims to have been directly responsible for between forty and sixty, and indirectly over two hundred people leaving the Klan.
Which is the one that gets mauled?
I finally got around to seeing Forbidden Planet (1956).
I thought it would be cheesy, but it actually maintained an atmosphere of suspense, thanks not only to the great cast but also to the spooky fully-electronic score.
Which will result in retaliation against US movies, thus further undermining the US's unparalleled soft power.
This man is doing literally everything Putin could ever want.
Take a good look. It's the last time you'll see them!
PS Excellent meme!
Well, if you get it wrong, you can always have the last panel say "I've made a huge mistake".
Is that Kwisatz Neo Baggins?
I don't think there's an acted movie, but documentaries, TV shows etc. And he has a podcast.
