Just bought a m1 air(2t ssd + 16g ram) for a grand and I expect it to last 5 years at least The m1 chip is already powerful enough for all my needs, there isn't much of a point to get m3

I have a late 2015 MacBook Pro and have been using it for about 7-8 years (mainly for web browsing and casual music production)

it still works fine as a computer but with some problems:

  • the speaker is broken, low end sounds are all distorted (which is my main problem)
  • battery life has gone very short (maybe 3 hours of continuous use)
  • the fan stopped working
  • some dead pixel starts to appear (which does not bother me at all)

I can sell it for about 140 USD, or repair it (I have no idea how much it costs )

And my concern is, will it last long after repair? the CPU and SSD all have their lifespan
