It’s so familiar and formulaic by now.

Drop a few stories that there’s “leadership rumbles” just before they take a break.

Run stories like “we are fully committed to our leader” because there is literally no comeback to that other than “oh, must be trouble!!”

While the leader is away, dig in the knife as much as possible…

  • “'She's gone': Palaszczuk regime is 'in its final days'” - the Australian
  • “Miles on tour: Acting Premier Steven Miles blitzes Queensland while Palaszczuk holidays in 'unofficial campaign' for top job” - the Courier Mail
  • “She had the week from hell, then jetted off to Italy. Has Palaszczuk lost her halo?” - SMH

Rinse and repeat until either the media finds something else to play with, or the leader falls on her sword.

Still a drop in the bucket of what’s needed and still not immediate enough. Lots of people gonna be doing a tough xmas this year.

Interesting history of the 1967 referendum too.

Hopefully good sausage sizzle weather!

I have bamboo sheets and they are great for hotter weather. I find them quite cool.

Would the Australian (NSW) laws apply here because that’s where it happened? They updated their sexual consent laws not long ago and their easy reader is pretty clear that a kiss is considered part of that. Not sure how it would be charged under the criminal code: https://dcj.nsw.gov.au/documents/children-and-families/family-domestic-and-sexual-violence/domestic-and-sexual-violence-hotlines/dcj_easy_read_sexual_consent_digital_accessible.pdf

You have to be able to have a backup. Right now if you lose your bank cards, your bank might not even have a face to face branch to get cash from, and it might take 2 weeks in the post. It’s also harder for older people to keep up with the technology changes, also for people who don’t have access to the internet (or internet banking).

It’s great for a lot of us (I haven’t used cash in about 2 years I reckon), but I am worried people will be left behind if there’s no other payment system in place.

There’s voucher systems for school stalls beings used. You buy a $5 voucher through the app and then all the gifts are either $5 or $10 at the stall. Works out cashless and pretty handy.

Here’s a quote from the “comedian” who spoke at the conference.

“I’d like to acknowledge the traditional rent-seekers, past, present and emerging,” Marks said, to applause from the crowd. “But seriously, I’d like to acknowledge the traditional owners – violent black men. I hope there are some real feminists in the audience who appreciate the part-truth of that joke.”

The No side can argue they’re doing because of the constitutional change or underperformance of the changes, but when you invite someone who speaks like that, it’s plain to see the why.
