My first. Used Krita and Wacom pad

[–] kendg@lemmy.cafe 2 points 2 days ago

I'm trying out Krita, too (Linux version, I didn't think it's that different). I'm tinkering trying different things, drawing lines, filling in between lines I've drawn, making shades and textures. Today I tried some watercolor brushes to make a sky and field, they don't look much like watercolor, though. I'm going to watch more videos on using Krita.

This is the same thing with a darkened shadow. I did this my accident in Krita, but I don't know how I did it.

I took this picture last year when it was sunny and I noticed the interesting looking shadow. I overwrite the shadow using Krita and a Wacom drawing pad on my PC.

Thanks for the recommendations on the earlier version of this. I made some changes because I feel it previously was two perspectives, bottom of the tree was from close looking up, but the top of the tree was from far away. I made the top bigger to make the trunk look like it's from the same perspective. Did some work on the ground around and behind the tree. Watched some videos, and looked at the trees across the street.

Trying to determine what to do from the grass at the bottom of the tree, some sort of field rolling back, green or yellow-ish? Originally thinking I'd go to about where I have the sky, but maybe higher. Mostly looking for any suggestions to make this better. Thanks for looking.

This looks darker in the picture than it really is.

In September I made a practice for this on sketchbook paper. Some minor changes, but this is it.

Did you do the tree and branches first or the snow?

Not sure if this is done, but maybe. If anyone has any tips about getting the fog to look better, I appreciate the direction. I'll probably look online for tips before I do more fog.

Watercolor and acrylic on paper

I've seen a lot at local (suburban) art fairs, usually in the summer, spring and fall. Even at some summer festivals they'll have a craft fair area and there is always someone selling their art.

I like the detail in the rocks, too. Comparing the closer area to the further shore line gives it good perspective. I'm trying to figure that out myself. I think you did well.

Only valuable because originally framed by my wife! 🤣

We just needed to make 3 or 4 pieces, I made over 10, pencil drawings and watercolor. This evolved, flowers first, then the egg, not sure if I did the sun or block and water next, but sun streaks were last. I had a few of these in cheap old frames, my wife had 3 reframed as a present for our 25th anniversary.

I think some of that is the photo I took, so slighter than it looks, but I'll make that a little darker so that doesn't show. I was trying to make it show different than other areas, and try to make it look more distant above the fog. I had the nearest fog darker before so that added a little more contrast. Thanks for the tip, I'll see what I can do.

Trying to capture a foggy city scene I have in my head. Looking at pictures online and now I'm trying to clean up the low laying fog, maybe make it a little lighter.

This is what it looked like before I started adding blue and grey to the sky.
