I'm not sure I knew dude was in First Contact. Holy shit? I feel like Parks & Rec missed an opportunity with some kind of meta joke with Adam Scott's Ben Wyatt, especially since the character is a super nerd who probably sleeps on TNG bedsheets anyway.

Anyway, nice catch there with Crisis Point 2!

According to his job description, the dude is a "Mental Wealth Advisor" 🙄

Huh, that's odd. Ok, this one is the one that spun off of Risa: https://lemmy.world/c/tenforward. I'm not sure I have seen the other one, can you link here?

Mod was enforcing unwritten rules and deleting posts mentioning it, so the regulars moved to Ten Forward: https://lemmy.world/c/tenforward. Pardon the mess, we're at the tail end (I think) of a 24-hour spree on name puns. It's not usually like this.

Okay, I lied, it's always this weird.

The 10F Mastodon instance? Not for Lemmy users, as far as I know. Kbin users do have access to Mastodon content (it's in the "microblog" section over here), but I'm not sure how to get to the Mastodon instance of Ten Forward specifically. Looks like that instance is private, that's probably why.

While technically true, one of the two Ten Forwards you're referring to is a Mastodon instance and is nothing like Lemmy.

Something to put this brutal-looking number in perspective: those stats are for people who survive and are disease-free. The writer didn't mention the survival rate for people who survive stage 4 and still have it.

It's totally possible to survive stage 4 melanoma, the 5 year survival rate is like 15-20%. Not super high, but not zero either.

There's a mysterious new respiratory illness infecting dogs in the U.S. It's contagious and is killing some of the infected dogs. I can't find any updates, dunno if it's still a thing or if it died out since November.

It's -5°F over here in Chicago, supposed to hit a high of 2°F later today. Wife and I are working from home, so we're both ok. We care for a feral cat that spends the winter months in a wooden cat house with a bed and plug-in heating pad that my wife installed on the back deck a few years ago. I'm always worried about that cat, she's getting older and isn't as spry as she used to be.

In about six, seven months it's gonna be 100° warmer, which is wild to me.
