I think a lot about how a Iranian man I worked with, a high ranking executive, said to me straight faced "the Republicans will unlock the economy" in like 2024.

People believe absolute nonsense.

They also say that park roads can become more deserted without a steady stream of cars, raising public safety concerns.

Pro-car people will reach for any excuse.

The only cars that should be in parks are emergency vehicles during actual emergencies.

I really dislike when the cop cars cruise through. There's one by me where they park at an entrance, causing a blind spot for any cyclists.

Utah, Florida, and Texas are all conservative places I would never want to live. This can be another reason why.

He shouldn't be allowed to just go about his life after ruining hers. She hasn't been made whole, so there has not been justice.

The only thing that really matters is what your in-groups believe. Some people consider news sources one of their in-groups, so if they see something in the NYT or The Guardian, they're likely to believe it. But for many people, they only believe their friends and sludge like fox news. You could show them a mathematical proof of something, and if you're out-group, they won't believe you.

For this reason, it's important to talk to our idiot friends and family, because that friendship is the only way to get them back to reality.

One of the reasons I like seeing smaller shows is sometimes you get more genuine interactions.

One time I saw Sincere Engineer and near the end someone in the audience shouted "play corn dog sonnet #7.

The singer was like "we played that one at the start "

The fan went, "I was late! I missed it!"

The singer asked the crowd, "Do you all want to hear it again?"

Everyone cheered, so they played it again.

I remember okcupid had a question (back when their system was based on answering questions) that asked "is it possible for a partner to be too ambitious?"

I was like "clearly some of you assholes never read Macbeth".

Also, the CEO of my old job was on the dating apps at the same time as me. Despite us being about the same age, I'm confident very few people would match with both of us. "Never worked, just grad school and CEO founder" seekers don't also seek me.

My hot take has always been that Xbox was a stupid project. They had windows. People play video games on windows. They should have made steam and something like steam machines 25 years ago.

Well, yes, though my direct manager isn't the worst. He's trying to protect me from other teams that might get pissy.

One of my friends is a product manager type and his analysis was basically "if stakeholders don't care it's not a problem, even if by any reasonable metric it is a problem". So. Here we are.

This matches my assumptions. Though I've often wondered how often people using vapid language know they're being vapid
