Apparently it saves when you sleep in a bed, so I guess there are some stakes but they're still pretty low.

Never played survival mode myself

Nonsense.

First of all, it's a quick-save game. There's almost no meaningful stakes. Even if someone turned out to be a synth that betrayed you, at worst you'd just go back to the last auto save.

Second, even if they did the combat is so janky you'd probably get shot a couple times, realize what's happening, and then win the fight anyway.

Third, that never happens.

The whole game is an incoherent mess. It's three under baked games in a trench coat.

I don't think I've ever gone much out of my way for achievements for their own sake. Games where they also unlock stuff (eg: binding of isaac), sure, but that's for the unlock.

I may have done some challenge stuff that I learned about for the achievement, but only because it seemed fun. I wouldn't go very far into anti-fun just for an digital badge on my profile.

I think I had a small amount of alcohol at weddings and new years celebrations when I was a teenager.

My parents don't have the healthiest relationship with alcohol. it's not the worst, but it never seemed cool or fun. It was just dad having a few cheap beers while watching the game. They never told me not to drink, either. No "forbidden fruit" allure.

No, but I don't own a car at all. Transit and walking are nice.

The war and general inaction on climate crisis and energy is depressing.

I don't intentionally consume caffeine. No coffee. Only herbal tea. No energy drinks. There might be some in chocolate, but I don't eat much chocolate.

When I was a kid my whole family were like coffee fiends. Couldn't get going without a cup. I never wanted to be like that.

I tried to write a post a couple times and the themes that keep coming up are "get good at money" and "practice delayed gratification"

It's easy to spend money you don't have on credit cards, and then have a horrible time later trying to pay them all off plus the 30% interest. Don't do that. Don't just buy stuff because it's there and easy.

Make a budget. You don't need to be fancy but you need to be honest. Add up your net income. Add up your expenses. Go actually look at your bank statement and see what you're spending, not just what you remember.

Join your local library. Read books. They probably have other media to borrow, too.

Join meetups and other local groups. Meet people. Humans are social creatures.

In America, we resolve our political differences at the ballot box,

Do we though?

There need to be harsher penalties for anti union actions from employers. Like, the business should be seized and given to the workers if they fire someone for trying to unionize.

We like to believe that facts are enough. But research shows that giving people more data rarely convinces them; instead, it’s empathetic conversations and trusted messengers that can reduce vaccine hesitancy

This is true for pretty much all beliefs. People are emotional morons. All of us. We make decisions based on feelings and following the in-group.

Internet slop and para social relationships with swindlers are very effective when they use this mechanism.

I really would like less news coverage of trump supporters. Their opinions are bad. I'd like the news media to focus on humanizing everyone else.

Without doing any research, I feel like I hear about fewer hate crimes targeting trans men than trans women? I'd guess because our society is obsessive with policing women's bodies. A guy with no beard is whatever, but a woman with some fuzz or stubble is a crime.

(Not to say that trans men don't have their own struggles)
