I got my gaming rig recently and played all the releases up to Rogue only this year. I assure you my specs are modest enough and it's just the game that is poorly optimised. Even Watchdogs 2 ran better than this.

Unity was the game I was most hyped for, especially because of its graphics and bigger maps. I even went to speedrun through the last three games to catch with the lore and begin playing it as soon as possible.

Alas, my PC couldn't meet up with the heightened hardware requirements and I had to give up after barely finishing the tutorial with the awful frame rates even with the settings set to minimal.

Thank you so much! I checked that he starred in the show 'Severance' which I just watched recently, which is why I could recognise his face.

Who's the guy in the second panel? I swear I've seen this guy somewhere recently and it's been seriously bugging me

By the looks of the image, you opened this post on your laptop, opened the camera app of your phone, took a screenshot of the app and took ANOTHER screenshot of the app along with the preview of the previously taken screenshot and finally posted it.

I guess it's your first day too

  1. For Linux enthusiasts, how do you decide which distro you would like to try out next among the plethora of options that are available? The difference I perceive between majority of distros gets smaller the more I try to understand about them.

  2. What are the minimum issues I am likely to face using the most beginner friendly distro like Mint for programming and light gaming?

  3. How customizable is the GUI in Linux Mint specifically? What if I want a start menu like Windows 10 with the app list and the blocky app tiles? What about those custom widgets I see in hardcore Linux users' desktops?

  4. I heard there is no concept of file extensions in Linux. How am I supposed to work on my projects that I imported from my Windows machine that do contain extensions?

Bonus: Who creates those distro icons in color coded ASCII in the system info command in the terminal?

I actually meant the home page of your blog site, but modifying each blog in a similar fashion could also be great if possible, although that may also depend on the type of audience you are expecting that would read them.

A few of these articles genuinely interest me. I may consider reading them whenever I get time later.

I'm not much expert at reading blogs either lol. I think my suggestion as a novice reader would be to include a short piece of intro text at the beginning of the page to describe what topics the blog talks about (maybe sum it in about 1-2 sentences). That way I would instantly get to know if it is something I am interested to read or not.

But then again, I am a novice so I don't know any better 😔

I am seeing this comment right after I finished 'Life is Strange'...

Tap for spoilerI think I will stay away from time travel for now

You would be immortal and all basic amenities essential for physical survival would be provided. You can have the age of your body according to your choosing and your mind won't blow off by accomodating endless amount of memory.

You can choose anything you desire and that too at any instant which may or may not exist in real life, like an endless supply of something or a companion with the same immortality powers as yours, but you won't be able to change it in the future and there would be no going back. Also you cannot alter your mind in any way that would enable to let you tolerate living for eternity or not get bored of things.

Ideally you would want to have everything just to be sure but by asking you the minimum requirements, it would making it more interesting to know what you think you could do without or what matters to you the most.

I do not read books as often as I watch movies, but I am willing to create a habit of reading by taking a suggestion for a book from this community, and I want to start from this genre.

However I am quite picky in this matter. I cannot stand romance involving breakups, betrayal, love triangle or anything of such sorts. All I am looking for a simple story where only the couple is the protagonist, if you understand what I mean. I do not wish for any other character act as a rival in their relationship. Minor inconveniences or tensions could still be tolerated but I wish for the couple to have a satisfying ending as they were destined to by spending time with each other or being involved in circumstances that reveal similarities between them.

I would be more inclined towards stories with settings during the present times or having the characters hate each other at first, but these are optional.

I am planning to create an open source project for a web application whose entire premise is to provide an otherwise paid service for free, so I am not planning to commercialize the project. This project is also a passion project. I seek to improve my skills by working on the application and I am not looking forward to expand it as an organization nor invest more time or resources into it than necessary.

However I want to know if I could ask for voluntary donations which support me on a personal level and not for the project itself. I want to consider it as a passive income and I don't care how much I receive in donations as long as I am doing it ethically and someone is willing to donate for this purpose knowingly.

If it is possible for me to ask for donations this way, how would it impact the domain of my website? Could I use .org for it being non-profit overall or would I need to use .com for asking for donations to be used for personal expenses in any manner? Or would I need to use a specific domain for this situation?

One year and 1.5 months to be more precise.

Suggest me some things I should look check out or look forward to now that I am back online.

I'm talking about things like approximate location, file/album specific media access, system wide camera and mic access, camera/mic use indicator, permission logs, data safety page for apps in play store etc.

Who are they trying to fool here? Any person who is truly aware about privacy knows Google cannot trusted in this domain. I don't believe Google just decided to turn 'not evil' in one night and bring all these additions that actually have any impact on us end users. Google might just as well have the same access to our devices' data if not more and they wouldn't mind letting third party apps have access to it. Operating at such a humongous scale globally, being the lifeline of nearly all individuals and industries and predating off them as their primary source of revenue, they have complete power to ignore or silence the privacy minded individuals like us, yet they bothered to implement and provide us these features.

I cannot come up with any reasonable answer for this apart from what I think of this as some sort of publicity stunt to compare themselves with the privacy features Apple introduced in their softwares. What are your thoughts?

Is this some sort of a convenience feature hidden behind a paywall to justify purchasing their subscriptions or does generating the codes actually cost money? If the latter is the case, how do applications like Aegis do it free of cost?

I am completely new to the realm of self hosting. I don't know a single thing about how I can self host stuff. Regardless, I have the curiousity to learn it by myself but I don't know where to start. I cannot find any sort of wiki or FAQ articles, nor do I have the ability to ask the forum for every single problem or doubt I encounter during the setup. Can someone direct me to a beginner friendly site that teaches all there is about self hosting and all the questions and misconceptions that come with it?

Additionally, is a self hosted server only accessible inside my home? What about accessing the services outside, like Bitwarden or Nextcloud apps that require syncing and availability of data wherever I am? If it is useless outside, there would be no point for me personally to self host in the first place since I am perfectly fine with using cloud services for now and the convenience that comes with it. Plus, no one else in my family cares about self hosting and I don't wish to spend the effort to convince them to in vain, so setting up a server for convenience of everyone at home is also out of the question.

No, I am serious about this. I wish to get back into the learning of reading, but as a beginner I am repelled by the intense use of vocabulary, literary devices of classical literature books or intense and difficult-to-follow storyline of modern day fiction. I want to read a book that is clearly made with people like me in mind.

I'm not saying I want 10 second short paragraphs or extremely racist or bigoted comments to fuel my interest in reading the book. Though I rarely use social media, I do quite often look at memes, and they make me feel at home with how they are relatable and make use of clever wordings and phrases to express that one particular feeling. Same thing is seen in comments of meme forums where people come up with things to add to the humor of the original post or make it even better. I feel like this kind of expression could very well be possible to implement in a book in a textual medium while retaining the same amount of engagement and creativity.

I know my request may seem unnecessary, that I should quit bickering and just pick up a book and start reading it, and in reality I could by lending one from my family, however I wish to give this approach a chance as I am sure this situation must be faced by other people and someone could have a written a book to directly address these kind of people. I need a stepping stone to start my habit of reading books and I feel like starting from something I am already familiar with would greatly assist me.

I am not interested in any particular genre as of now apart from what I have expressed in the post so far. I could even go as far as to read an encyclopedia or an academic paper if the humor is engaging enough.

I feel that this topic of discussion is general, subjective and of help to others on the internet, which is why I decided to post it here instead of the dedicated books community.
