It's almost always the first one for me.

Thanks!
It's considered part of it. Projects on the Fediverse use Matrix for discussions (besides Pixelfed using Discord). I'm not seeing much push for XMPP.
I have old.discuss.online and plan to add more front-ends for Lemmy soon.
Nope, that's about it. Ha. I took my oldest son up there when he was 2, and he loved it. We're just thinking about going back to relive that experience. We've been trying to think of other options, too. My wife suggested we go to Chicago and go to some places there with the kids.
Great! Let us know how you like it or if you need any help. You can find me @jgrim@discuss.online.
We're thinking about going to Michigan and seeing the dunes this summer.
How long ago did you try it? Did you try an other federated chat clients?
It does have some rough edges that make adoption difficult but once you persavere beyond those poinpoints I start to like it. I had considered switching to something else like XMPP but I already have so many channels on Matrix I'd hate to try to get people to switch. I'm not certain I want to run to different services even if I could bridge them.
Thanks! After I updated my configuration, I saw that the communities were queued for processing. I'll keep an eye on it.
I doubt many are from other fediverse platforms. Pixelfed has been well known for a while. There are a lot of sharp edges running a Pixelfed server. He's stretched himself thin with all these projects. They need more love for sure.
Yes, I'm not certain I could tolerate so much darkness. I already suffer from depression pretty badly.
I realy love this series! It's simple and creative. I'm going to try this.
This is to be expected. The same thing happened with Lemmy, several times. I had a bunch of signups on social.photo; however, the new people that signed up aren't very active. I think a lot of people were just trying it out and weren't impressed.
Enjoy!
