I ended up getting reevaluated for some reason in high school back in the '90s, by a complete pompous asshole. So, according to this dude, not preferring to sit at the front of a classroom is proof positive that it cannot possibly be ADHD. I must just be lazy and manipulative. (That second part was a new one, at least. Trying to dodge accountability? Idek.)

That was it, that was the entire rationale stated for why ADHD was supposedly no longer an issue in my life. I am not joking. Thankfully my parents thought he sounded full of it too, and did arrange for a more comprehensive educational reevaluation through a university center. Where my own seating preferences never came up, incidentally.

Yeah, I also had PTSD and actual (partly documented) reason not to trust some people behind me at that school. Turns out I'm also on the autistic spectrum. I still have not magically grown out of either thing, 30+ years later. Funny how that works.

That little anecdote aside, I do get the idea that this is probably one of those longterm received wisdom things. Just because it's a go-to suggestion, doesn't mean that this strategy is going to work best for everyone. Useful point to bring up, OP.

The Crock Pot branded essentially knockoffs are good. We've had one for years. Haven't seen anything about ill-advised political pandering there so far, at least.

Yep, and that applies even without any existing health concerns going in. Better hope you don't develop any while living under those conditions.

I'm T1 diabetic, and have an unfortunately reasonable expectation that even a week spent in jail back in the US could very easily turn into a death sentence. It does happen with depressing regularity. That's just looking at one very straightforward (and easily treatable) chronic condition, and a couple of fairly recent examples which have gotten more publicity than most such cases ever will. It's a mess.

I still need to rack off another batch that's taking up a good chunk of my brewing corner. But, the next batch planned for hopefully this weekend is a hoochy melomel concoction involving some frozen strawberries that need cleared out and compatible fruity-flavored black tea. (Kobbs Sörgårdste) It may also get some blackcurrant drink concentrate if that seems like a good idea flavorwise.

I was wanting to get a test batch of some Thai black rice and blueberry Franken-doburoku going, but the pressure cooker I've been using for glutinous rice has decided not to seal properly even after a gasket replacement. I don't feel like messing around with steaming wholegrain rice on the stove, so that'll just have to wait until I can troubleshoot and fix that/snag a second cooker. May need to wait for next month on that one.

I also use Garuda. While I wouldn't normally suggest an Arch-based distro to someone newer, the developers there did a pretty good job at making it more approachable and user friendly for people who aren't used to Arch.

The default BTRFS filesystem setup with automatic Snapper snapshots at each update also gives some extra stability insurance to the rolling release. If an update does temporarily screw something up (as very occasionally happens)--or you manage to do something to the system yourself--you can just boot using a previous system snapshot until the issue is fixed. Another reason I would recommend Garuda where I wouldn't necessarily suggest Arch or most derivatives.

I caught mumps at around 30, during one outbreak thanks to the proliferation of antivax garbage. Only about half of kids in some London boroughs were fully vaccinated, centered around a couple of the wealthiest areas--and that was nearly 20 years ago. (Meanwhile, I was indeed fully vaccinated as a kid. It's not foolproof, and especially not forever.)

Thankfully recovered just fine without complications, but that really was NOT much fun. Adults are pretty much guaranteed to get sicker, even if they're otherwise fairly young and healthy--and lucky enough to avoid any of the serious complications which are likelier to occur.

Det här låter som ett hembryggningskit där ingredienserna har tillverkats till fasta briketter. Utan restriktioner! Jag antar att det inte skulle finnas några.

I haven't seen anything really discouraging out of Infomaniak, either, for e-mail and drive services. Been using them for a while now.

Does it work if you launch steam through mangohud? Like:

mangohud steam-native

You would probably want to temporarily remove the per-game launch command while running it that way, for the HUD to actually show up in game (assuming it will load). But that's another approach to try, at least for troubleshooting purposes.
