I actually find this entire recap by the media and fans frustrating. The final drive isn’t nearly as egregious as the second to last drive.
The one they willingly ran it up the middle on 3rd-and-7 from the Lions 23! And took a FG to go from 9pt lead to 12. I’m not saying don’t kick the FG on 4th down, but aggressively go for the 1st down or TD. You end the game with a TD, you kill more of the remaining clock with a 1st.
With that choice you said “come at us Lions, we have a 12pt lead” and the next drive is a lightning strike to bring it to 5 and 3 minutes. You voluntarily invited the sphincter tightening by not going for a knockout blow when the pressure was off
I’m so tired of the run-run-bomb criticism. Although terrible, the game suddenly got challenging because you chose to open the door. Disgusting, but please critique the game correctly on Chicago radio and other. It was a challenging scenario to be in the last drive, precisely because of what happened the drive before it in the game
My order of blame:
Getsy running the ball on 3rd-and-7 from Detroit’s 23, up 9pts already. Why?? Give Fields the chance to score a TD, get a first, end the game. Pure taking the game out of Field’s hands, gutless cowardism loser play
Flus failing to challenge when Fields got a 1st down. 3rd-and-1 they fail the tush push, and kick a field goal. Gross
Getsy run-run-deep ball. Do you have plays?
The defense falling apart at the end, certainly.
Maybe just me, Flus didn’t challenge Amon-ra’s catch that put them in td range the final drive, and that was trapped on the ground. As well, Flus’ general time management
🤣 Bloody finger guitar
Thats a first man
Made the simple stuff so difficult on that drive, as exciting as the escapes are to watch and such, juice not worth the squeeze, for little 5 yard dink and dunks
