Pisses me off no end that too. We have wet tyres, as long as there is enough visibility let them race.

Bit of a false dichotomy comparing Moto GP and F1 really.

WEC has banned warmers, there have been complaints about it, but they're largely getting on with it. WRC prohibits them.

We should have a season long test without tyre blankets to determine the impact of the rule change.

I don't necessarily think that cold tyres will bring chaos either. I think it just changes the strategy during a race. Whether that turns out to be good for the sport I can't say.

I suppose the real question is what can Pirelli do to give grip at low temperatures.

If the world's most elite drivers can't handle cold tyres, then perhaps they're not the world's most elite drivers.

Please remember that not all Lemmy clients render the spoiler markdown correctly in the feed, and therefore spoilers may be seen anyway.

Over on c/formula1, we have a no spoilers rule in the post title, but given the above, we asked for the spoiler tags to be used as a courtesy.

LJ is considering a sub for premium features of Sync for Lemmy (which I'm against, would much rather just buy the app outright). With that in mind, I can see him open sourcing this application.

Nor should he. FOSS is great, but not all apps need to be FOSS, and not all developers can afford to work for free / donations.

I'm ready for Jennifer Lawrence to give me a call too!

I think Toto is doing his job well, but I just don't see Mick returning to F1. He didn't have the pace before, I can't imagine he'll have it again.

Probably worth him joining WEC or Indy.

I have many arguments for and against this from many theoretical race scenarios.

I guess the question is how many seasons would Pirelli agree to as a minimum to run a newly developed tyre. I'd rather trial it for a year and decide afterwards if it was going to work.

There's nothing that beats the knowledge of the collective!

Drat! I've been foiled!

I took over the Formula 1 community around 3 weeks ago. We've got more than 10x the number of users/month since then from one race really.

It's now looking like a super healthy community, with plenty of posts and interaction. It's top 20 on lemmy.ml and is the biggest sports community there.

This united channel should easily catch it and surpass it once we have actual football to talk about, and aren't here hitting F5 like muppets.

In the US, wouldn't she be able to plead the 5th?
