Hey all. I've been doing some in-depth research and I'm here to present you with information as to why I'm not willing to give up on JF1.

Observations:

  • Struggles to get through first and/or second read(s)
  • Holds the ball too long and/or takes too many sacks
  • Struggles to read the field
  • Struggles with decision making
  • Struggles with footwork
  • Struggles with arm angle
  • Struggles to trust himself
  • Playing style conducive to injury

Now, if you're more of a stats person, I'll lay out some concrete numbers supporting my unwillingness to give up on JF1

2023 Stats/Data:

  • Passing Yards - 1,587 (28th)
  • Passing Yards per Game - 198.4 (24th)
  • Touchdowns - 12 (21st)
  • First Downs - 77 (28th)
  • Passing Success Rate - 40.6% (26th)
  • QBR - 44.5 (23rd)
  • Net Yards Gained Per Attempt - 5.61 (24th)
  • Expected Points Added Per Drop back - -0.08 (26th)
  • Expected Points Added Total - -21 (25th)
  • Sacks - 29 (6th)
  • Sack % - 11.6 (2nd)

Summary:

I know this sub goes back and forth on what we should do with the 2024 draft. But hopefully after laying out some observations and data, this sub can better understand why I'm unwilling to give up on the QB who has statistically been one of the worst QBs of the last 3 years who has shown very little when it comes to improving.

I'm going to go with yes, and one of the major issues is coaching/adjustments. There have been a handful of games so far where even when we were behind, the game extremely close. Then halftime hits, the other team makes adjustments and the Bears do not and then the second half is a complete disaster.

To me, this paints the story that the team is more talented than the end result would have you believe, but the lack of adjustments and creativity really skews it.
