next you're gonna tell me there's no justice at the department of justice
hypnicjerk
lol it's a song about growing old followed by a song about death
major tom also shows up in the music video for blackstar
the blues are associated & originated with poor black performers in the american deep south. the name is synonymous with melancholy and misfortune. so you're right about the expectations being subverted but not getting the whole picture which is that a gaudy mansion and well dressed white people are about as far from the traditional trappings of the blues as possible.
you could also further interpret it as a dig at cultural appropriation though i don't think it's meant to go that far.
i opened the comments to say this is one of the funniest far sides i've ever seen
when i originally fell in love with the strip as a teenager i wouldn't have gotten this at all
but as a 30-something i think this one has aged like fine wine
between the death's head panoply, the butter glider, and the scarionette cannon? i'd definitely say he upped his game from the dreaded candiru and the deadly cloud of deception slash diversion.
beyond that, going from threatening bodily harm to financial ruin was definitely a glow-up in my opinion.
wait i've just described ordinary (if incredibly well done) character development
- nobody asked, dumbass
- how the hell is visibility not a valid excuse when you have no idea when the suv actually entered their field of vision. the angle gives us no info about that entire side of the street. how are they supposed to stop for a car that could easily have only come into view after they've entered? is there cross traffic offscreen that could have obscured their view? are there stop signs or red lights? is this even a straight road beyond the segment we can see? clearly you have all the info so please share.
and then you have the venture bros, where the monarch starts off as goofy and ineffectual but becomes more menacing as the series goes on and the stakes get higher
we definitely do not have enough information here to determine right of way, visibility, or culpability. pretty much the only thing we can say for certain is that the SUV driver was going way too fucking fast.
i only got 45 seconds in and totally ate the onion
there's no fucking way. its valuation is entirely dependent on it.
