In the Monday evening meeting, which diplomats described as somber, Brussels noted that it hadn’t received any guarantees from the U.S. administration that there wouldn't be further U-turns on tariffs.

Must be so hard if you have a business with major stakes in EU-US imports/exports.

@EuroMod@feddit.org, I went to check the sidebar to check rules on non-political content and saw there still is a link to the lemm.ee community yurop. They moved to piefed and changed their name to be more clear about their intention (they felt the old name too much suggested there is only place for memes) !casualeurope@piefed.social

Not sure if you know about the community @CAVOK@lemmy.world. Though much smaller in size they'd sure like to read about traveling Denmark.

To regular people yes, but in the minds of ceo's and policymakers less so i guess.

Wrote the following earlier today to another post

[…] i see a lot of media calling border checks 'the end of Schengen' but i feel that is so much of an exaggeration. I'm not in favour of these checks, but the underlying principles that make the Schengen area possible (freedom of movement for goods, people and services) still holds as it has for years. It's not like what is and isn't allowed has changed, only whether it's checked you are following the rules. I'm not saying this is a useful way of spending money but I feel the media in general are really happy to write about how the EU is crumbling apart, foretelling some kind of European apocalypse. The shift to the right caused much worse things than border checks, also for asylum seekers. We're about to lock people up outside of the EU for processing and nowhere do i read how this is 'straining the fabric of European decency' or something like that.

Despite the clickbaity headline, this article actually shows why these measurements are taken: they are symbolic to the people who feel overwhelmed by migration. Good job DW, not going all alarmist nor taking the 'keep calm and carry on'-route.

When I grow up, EVERYBODY will call ME "MR. AMERICA". They will GIVE ME "NOBEL" PEACE prizes and hold MILITARY PARADES on MY BIRTHDAY. I will be "PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES". They will LOVE ME and APPRECIATE ME.

Half of the mexicans who held positive views changed their opinion. Oof.

Also interesting, the estimated percentage of Democrats is bigger than the estimated percentage of Republicans while the true percentage is the other way around.
