This is more of a support question, related to using Lemmy. Please see the sidebar for a list of communities that offer support. Removing under rule #3.

That's right! I came in as part of the first wave from Reddit, just after the API announcement. I've only been on Lemmy for a few months.

Sounds good. I'm happy to help if you want changes, but I'm also pretty happy with how things are going here.

I tried to reread the books as an adult and was horrified that my younger self liked them so much. I must have glossed over so much.

Most of those communities are tiny, sleepy, or generally already take good care of themselves and just need an occasional caretaker. !asklemmy@lemmy.ml is the only one that takes significant time.

This is quite a similar to other recent questions and breaks rule #3 related to using Lemmy.

Try one of the support communites for more info on this.

I'm confused as to how we got from "I reviewed the whole thread and tried to make a fair call that protects the users in the community" to "if your stance is to punish the victim and foster a toxic atmosphere". I'm here to help, so please take me at face value.

Dude. Karma isn't a big deal on Lemmy. If you don't like downvotes, use an instance that doesn't use them. This community is for discussing questions, not using Lemmy. Next comment about this will be a community ban.

I read through the thread a few times and while at first glance, it looked like one person was trolling, my conclusion in the end was that it was actually the other person. That's why I deleted those posts.

I seriously considered removing the entire thread but my thought was that it would remove transparency. I'm not always going to get this right but I'll do my best and listen to the follow-up comments.

I am here. This community doesn't take a ton of my attention and I enjoy getting to hang out with you all. Really, you mostly need a mod to deal with things like duplicate posts, add an icon, etc. You were doing just fine before I got here. If you'd like to see something change, let's discuss.

I tried pinging the previous mod when I stepped up to take care of the community but no answer.

I do my best work when I'm empowering others.

Sure, I can take the spotlight and do some really cool things. But when I support others, for example by helping them figure out or achieve their goals, create opportunities, connect people, etc., then I'm helping add even more good to the world.

While we haven't covered this topic in this community, it has been discussed exhaustively in other communities. Removing under rule #4.
