Yep. Got this earlier today.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who didn't care about this besides the one-off sociopaths you encounter on the internet (though I'm fairly convinced that they also care but just feel powerless to change things). The problem is that the priority for most people is not starving to death within the next month, and that makes it impossible to devote time and energy into solving more long term problems.

Probably some dude just trying to make a living. Just like how Facebook isn't out there looking to sow chaos and subvert democracy, but it just so happens that content contributing to this gets more engagement and more income.

I don't know who's behind these videos. What I can tell you, as someone involved in AI research, is that the information is factual, but it's presented in a way that makes it sound a lot scarier than it actually is.

This makes sense. If you want kids and have the means to support them, then it's fairly easy to just have kids. While it's a ton of work, the entire process is very rewarding if that's your thing.

If you want kids but can't afford them, that's a drop in life satisfaction.

If you don't want kids and have aspirations outside of raising a family, you're fighting an uphill battle since so much of our society is designed around men. It'll be much harder for you to attain something satisfactory.

Maybe they mean the shareholders' "wages".

Questioning whether other humans are conscious has value in that it helps us figure out what could make other entities conscious. Exactly as we're doing in this thread.

The mutations may still happen, but if they have to compete against those who don't have the mutation and lose, then they'll die out. So the question is whether this competition for resources happens or not.

That's awesome. I've been using a browser plugin to remove all video recommendations. Good to hear that it's a native feature now.

Why is #1 an issue? You're assuming physics at a subatomic level works the same as that at a macroscopic level, but they don't. Things don't have well defined boundaries.

I don't mean to say that you would be incapable of imagining each of the details of a piece. What I mean is that at any given moment, you're only paying attention to a small part of the piece while your brain fills in the rest with an approximation so it appears as if you hear the whole thing at once.

Pretty sure there would've been a whole lineup of more competent people waiting to take his place if he dies.
