What do you consider to be shitty service?
If it were a deliberate choice, then sure, I'd agree with you. The issue is that it often isn't, and you don't know how much choice someone has until you've lived their exact life.
It seems that where we differ is they yes, I do think that employee providing shitty service deserves a living wage. But more importantly, there's so much that people do for us that should be paid but isn't, or that isn't paid enough to live off of but should be. People who volunteer their time to clean up public spaces, to help take care of the sick and elderly or young children, people producing art for the rest of us to enjoy, people doing doing fundamental research on topics that aren't currently trendy, and likely many more that aren't coming to mind right now.
It seems to simply be a difference in values. I personally think a human being has value simply for existing, and many others would agree on this. Nothing idiotic about valuing different things.

Uh, what happened here?
I've always just used a bigger plate/bowl to cover things. They're much easier to clean than any plastic lid.
It's always good to know who your audience is. Different people have different biases, different experiences, different world views, etc.
The article focuses on the weight/BMI of their subjects and how going too high leads to increased risk of many other health problems. Problematic snacks they list include cookies, cakes, pies, crisps, breakfast cereal.
Criticism: I have the same issue with the way this work is presented as I usually do when this topic comes up, and it's that there's no such thing as an inherently (un)healthy meal/snack. It's your diet as a whole that your body responds to, and dietary needs differ from one person to the next. For example, (considering only Calories since that's the focus of the article) if you consume too much during the day, that's not solely the fault of the cookie. Maybe you had a "healthy" salad for lunch, but if you reduced the amount of dressing used, that cookie would fit in perfectly fine.
It's pretty close (Usually Dec 20 or 21), and some versions of the holidays that were merged together to form today's Christmas were indeed celebrated on the solstice.
A similar question I ask myself: do I care if this company continues to exist and produce similar content? The answer is usually the same.
I appreciate the content, but could you not post everything in one go? I'd like to see some more variety on my home page. Thanks.
