Because reddit moderation has become utterly unbearable, insufferable bad.

I've been using BBSs, newsgroups, MIRC, ICQ, a million ass forums and social media for almost 40 years now.

I've never been banned from anywhere on the net (and before).

And yet in the last three months I've been temp banned 3 times on reddit. All for their AI moderation systems misunderstanding Australian colloquialisms as threatening violence.

It's utter bullshit.

People are leaving reddit as a result.

Unless the aid is sizeable, moving the needle, I would argue if it is anything but this then it's simply an empty gesture to curry image and media.

What is on the table?

Are we talking form, coz a pizza in the form of a tokamak would be sick.

Or are we talking ingredients, coz 30 years ago I used to order

Pizza, thin tomato base. Cheese, tandoori chicken, corn, potato slices with avocado slices. It might have more stuff but the place closed down and no one else will make it for me.

I would then layer salt and vinegar chips on that motherfucker.

It was amazing.

In F04 about 70% of my time is spent scraping piles (scrap all) of rubbish in my settlements.

Doesn't anyone in the post apocalyptics fucking sweep and recycle???

The goal is to reduce the quality of life of the average US citizen to match the low quality of life in poor countries so our labor can "compete" in the market by vastly reducing our pay and purchasing power.

I swear the republicans watched Hunger Games 1 and thought fuck yeah let's build a fascist dystopia.

My bingo card has for 2027 > Trump introduces a hunger games like gladiatorial death match tournament.

Once my father was preparing a 15kg salmon for a big dinner party. The phone rang and he turned away for just a moment.

Our three cats who had been strategically located around him used this moment to pounce. Working together they had leapt onto the bench and pulled it off.

With a loud splat he came rushing back to find them merciless attacking the fish.

(the meat with bite marks was strategically removed, and the cats rejoiced).

The dog into trouble for not stopping the cats.

I share the author's nostalgia for Telnet, as a kid who spent many lost hours trying to telnet into "interesting things" at the dawn of the internet.

We had a transmitter on our building for satalite backhaul. I used to have fun using it to telnet into various stuff in orbit.

You'd be surprise at how many times they didn't even bother with credentials.

Sales down 1.2%? Still profitable on the order of billions? Better cut 7% of the workforce.

My companies on paper "profit" (EBITDA) is 8% but I know for a fact that a lot of the billions of "cost" funnelled into capex is being embezzled.

Because I work in a technical industry servicing secret squirrel stuff it's basically auditors can't audit and the government is very hands off (even if they could understand what we sell, which for the most part they don't. Shit most of us don't understand it either).

Basically licence to do whatever you want.

But because we didn't hit the declared 11% target they cut the workforce by 10%. They'd didn't even do an analysis. Basically the CTO just cut people based on their title.

Fuckers

What pisses me off is it won't tell me how to convert codeine to heroin or how to enrich uranium, and how to cook up the HE required to compress the uranium into going critical.

In a recent Guardian article about the Guthrie kidnapping (and probable murder) they indicated at the end of the article that efforts to identify the kidnappers had been stymied because her Ring camera subscription wasn't active:

They had said that one roadblock in the ensuing search for Guthrie was the fact that somebody had disconnected her doorbell camera when she disappeared. And because she was not actively subscribed to the doorbell camera service provider, they could not immediately get images, they said.

Only for Patal (as of course he would seeing he has no comprehension of opsec) to expose the fact that the FBI able to obtain recordings from Ring cameras, even when the owner is unsubscribed to the cloud storage service they provide:

The FBI director, Kash Patel, published the images as the search for Nancy Guthrie, 84, stretched into its second week, saying the images had been “previously inaccessible” but were subsequently obtained from “residual data located in back-end systems”.

Pretty horrifying for those who don't want their cameras reporting back. And yes yes i get that Ring has some pretty severe security breaches and problems and you shouldn't be using them but the idea that video is being stored for over a week in Ring's non-volatile storage systems, even when you're not paying for it, is pretty damn bad,

Apologies if this fact, breach of privacy, was already known and in the public domain. This is something i've just learnt about.
