Whilst enlightening, it's kinda also useless. Let's be honest the majority of endusers use a particular app, in the main, because its most likely what everyone else in their friend group uses.

In my case WhatsApp, I'd struggle to get all my friends and family to change at this point.

If you think meta has any good intentions I would suggest reading this article about how they killed xmpp open protocol.

There objective will be simple, monetize and if they can't, kill off the competition.

Edit: grammar and spelling

I sincerely hope that as many admins as possible instantly defederate from metas instance if they ever launch one.

I think Reddit is going to end up killing itself I don't think it needs help.

Not only for historical context but to prevent that history from repeating itself.

Facebook joining the fediverse will be for one reason only and that will be to find a way to crush it and/or monetize.

Because one use may object to the content or doesn't want to exposed to a certain instance but that doesn't mean the instance should defederate, that's an instance nuclear option.

Choice should be with the user not forced upon him.

Would be nice if there was a way block a whole instance.

I know it's restriction on the platform side but maybe some instance filtering could be built into the app which could work then same way effectivley blocking visibility of a whole instance.

Just a thought and I don't know how many users would want/use it.

I posted this on a different thread to downgrade your version.

May be helpful if your instance doesn't update in a timely manner.

The latest version on the playstore is 0.0.35.
I was able to download the previous version 0.0.34 from github which doesn't have the v 0.18 issue.
As soon as your lemmy instance updates to 0.18 you should be able to update the jerboa app without any issue.
