I get a laugh from most of the 4chan stuff I see posted here on lemmy/kbin. That is the main point of it, IMHO.

I'm in pretty much the same boat as OP.

I'm seeing that buying a Pixel and then degoogle-ing it with Graphene OS is the way to go. Before I pull the trigger on that, can anyone point me to a good guide on how and when to load Graphene OS? Do I load it after activation with a carrier? Ok to do this before carrier activation?

And what functionality do I have with Graphene OS? Only Fdroid as a store? Can I sideload apps?

I'd really like to hear from some people that have actually done this about what to do and what their experience is with grapheneos. I'm leery of spending hundreds of dollars on a phone that may or may not work as I want.

I am seriously considering doing this but I'll buy an iphone if I can't really understand the pixel/graphene path well enough before dropping the $$.

Any YT vids about someone doing this?

Just bought BattleBit Remastered.

Right. Most of those would not be possible.

I guess you might be able to eat on around $19 / day if you only bought the cheapest staples at the grocery store. Sounds very difficult, though.

Unpopular opinion: I find this comparison a bit off. Compare your theft from the till to your boss taking $100 from your pocket and it seems more even.

It is possible. I would think they'd want me to come back and re-test. But I'll never know.

I agree. Raise taxes to cover any shortfall. And start with the 1% 's taxes.

Crazy times we live in.

I've purchased a few DVDs / Blu Rays of some of my favorite stuff. But I'm also trying to get my hands on as many "good" CDs as I can. I'm not really trying to be a curator or librarian, I just see the shitshow on the horizon (and already here, honestly) as physical media and ownership of media in general ends and streaming becomes the only option.

And owning media will get more and more difficult unless one format shifts the media (rips it) before there is no more hardware to do this.

I completely agree.

Many years ago I applied for a McJob at Worst Buy. They had mandatory drug testing even (especially?) for the lowest level job I was applying for.

I couldn't pee when I went to the medical place for the test. Not sure I recall correctly but I think I went back a second time and drank a lot of water and was full of piss so I could do it. They never got back to me. No idea why. I guess they picked up the nicotine and didn't want to hire a cigarette smoker.

When I think about this now I'm pretty horrified that I even did the pee test. It would be exceptional circumstances for me to do this for anything employment related now. I'm very clean now but it is none of their fucking business. It does surprise me that it is legal.
