English orthography is awful. Hard "c" AND soft "c"? Are you crazy? How about that "k" that is already the hard c sound? It should be "kat" and "kar". And it only goes downhill from there (or their?!?).

We should clean it up someday. But we'll probably end up with LOL-WTF-speak.

Do I have an alphabet for you! Ever heard of the IPA No, it's not just a beer!

That is interesting. Do you have a source?

There's a lot of "it depends", I think. Crowded sidewalk? No, I'm not going to try to greet anyone. Only two people walking on this block in my neighborhood? Yes, I will say good day.

No. I am not.

I am surprised that anyone would equate a simple greeting with requiring a conversation or asking someone out.

All I ask is a same or similar Hello, tiny smile, whatever simple human acknowledhement you care to give. One does not even have to slow their pace to do this.

Ignoring someone that just wished you a good day is rude.

I started greeting people more in the last year or so. Some people at work have started saying Good morning, etc. as well.

Most of the time in public I find that my greeting is ignored. This bothers me because I assume people are starting from a negative assumption about me: I want something from them, I need a conversation, I'm hitting on them, etc. I am not trying to do any of those things, just wishing people a good day. It seems that we as a society have allowed our fears and social awkardness to overcome being polite.

It should not be an issue for two strangers to say good morning to each other but apparently it is for most.

Thank you.

Yes, but I'm in a pretty good spot now so it is in theory, not reality.

I think with global warming starting to have worse and worse effects that we will see more and more climate refugees moving around. A couple of my neighbors are planning to move to FL, which seems crazy to me.

I think these were called chicken tenders. Search for recipes, they're out there.

I was really getting sick of all the negativity on Reddit. It feels like about 80% of posts are shitting on someone for some reason that I don't really care about. Feels like a bunch of bitchy teenage girls all trying to rain on each others parade. I hope they all choke on their own social vomit.

So glad there seems to be NONE of that energy here. I hope it never arrives.

Other random thoughts/observations:
I appreciate that kbin/fediverse is more mature and academic.

I like Star Trek much more than Star Wars and see plenty of ST and no SW here.

While I appreciate that Reddit has more smaller and special interest communities because of it's size, I like that kbin is smaller. I think it will be a little sad to see it get big.

I plan to stay here for a while. I may host a mag or two eventually. I have ideas for improvements but as a non app user it seems pretty good so far.

Also, thanks to Ernest (sp?) and others who keep the lights on and motors running. You make it all possible.

This matches my understanding. Dryer sheets are fabric softener that works in your dryer and they also reduce static electricity.

You can remove static electricity from clothes via contact with bare metal. I use a metal clothes hanger because it is a convienient shape/size but any metal will work. I thought about removing paint from the front of my dryer and rubbing clothes on that. Or use bare electrical wire which you could connect to ground in an outlet.
