So what "other option" do I have to stop my kid's ClassDojo app from badgering me to "upgrade" to "plus?"

Keep in mind that it's the public school system that chose to use ClassDojo, not me.

And that's only one out of about half a dozen shitty third-party services with shitty ToSs that the school system has tried to push on me in the last week!

It's called a baseball bat.

No he didn't. Why are you libeling him?

Free Software is the only solution to this in the long run.

I have a GL.iNet Mango, which I think would suit your needs very well. (Either that or maybe a higher-spec router from the same company, anyway: the Mango lists VPN as a prominent feature so it's definitely got that covered, but it's only an 802.11N (300Mbps) device.)

The nice thing about GL.iNet routers is that they come with OpenWRT firmware already on them from the factory, so you can do whatever you want with them.

While I'm at it, here's an OpenWRT forum thread explaining how to adjust the firewall settings to act as a "killswitch."

"Eastman Commits More Sedition"

Fixed your headline, Talking Points Memo.

Thank you for making the effort. Getting packaged by F-droid is far from trivial, but IMO it's well worth it, both in terms of users' trust, and possibly also in improving your build process.

I'm not sure folks fully understand just how much value F-Droid adds above and beyond other repos that just publish any ol' APK you throw at them. Reproducible builds are important!

I want everybody including people still serving their sentence to be able to vote, mainly because I don't want it to be possible for disenfranchisement to be an ulterior motive for criminalizing things the political opposition does. (For example, marijuana prohibition.)

I'm already avoiding buying new cars because of this issue for a while now. My newest car is from 2005, and I intend to keep it that way.

It sucks that all the electric cars are ruined by spying, but at least I'm happy with the e-bike I bought this spring.

Wait, that's not a sing lyric...

I know! The point is that we're seeing the combined effect of ticket prices increasing relative to inflation and minimum wage falling relative to inflation, compounding the unaffordability.

It took two hours of working minimum wage to buy an Elvis ticket ticket.

Elvis ticket cost in 2023 dollars: $31

But minimum wage is $7.25/hr, so $31 is more like four hou... oh wait.
