It's curated to cause problems, I wouldn't believe anything otherwise. Douyin which is the Chinese version shows completely different content, including government narratives. Tiktok is straight brain rot, and I believe it's curated to encourage poor behavior in users outside of China.

That is a huge bummer for people that spends months working places with very slow or no internet. It is getting harder and harder to get physical media, and every single device needs to be constantly touching the internet to work properly. I just find it so ridiculous you can't buy a brand new console, and throw a CD / cartridge in it, and expect it to actually play a video game.
Ive had a switch for a few years. I ended up buying a bunch of games I already had on steam, plus Pikmin, breath of the wild, and Mario Kart. I feel like I bought a huge tablet just to play Mario Kart occasionally. I have buyers remorse for sure.
IMO people are naive to see something for so cheap and to assume that there is no chance of it being made of lead or bringing whatever other litany of monkey paw curses to whoever buys it.
The same fallacy of someone buying a $200 android, complaining it sucks, then getting a $700 IPhone, to confirm in their mind that all androids are cheap crap. Ignorant consumers are gonna ignorantly consume.
