I know! This year has been pretty good for industrial releases. These two albums, new Youth Code, new King Yosef, new HIDE...

Even KMFDM think that KMFDM sucks ๐Ÿ˜‰

This album is a lot of fun.

Thanks! I'm familiar with the first two but I don't know the others, so I'll check those out.

Thank you. Gonna give this a go.

Thanks! do you have an album you'd recommend that I should start with?

[โ€“] gid@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 week ago

Yeah this feels very much like he's grudgingly accepted this after the backlash against his years of bad takes.

When I saw this post I thought "I bet someone has helpfully commented that that armoured vehicle isn't a tank".

Sure enough.

Yes! his last album and his collab with Youth Code are immense.

Honestly they're the electro-industrial band I've been most excited about in the past 5-10 years. The right mix of classic Wax Trax!-era electro-industrial with an update of modern hardcore to really get me going. Plus they seem to have spearheaded a resurgence of angry electro-industrial in the US, which I'm here for. The dude behind Choke Chain said seeing Youth Code was what inspired him to start Choke Chain.

Wow that MTV2 watermark brought back intense memories.

Excellent melodic death/doom from The Netherlands

Youth Code have announced an EU/UK tour in early 2026 with King Yosef and Street Sects.

See the link for dates and tickets.

What have you been listening to this week? Whether it's an old favourite, a new release, or maybe even a hidden gem: please share!

Also if you're looking for a recommendation, perhaps for bands similar to a particular band or sound, feel free to ask.

This happens infrequently to me, almost always when I'm in conversation and I can't find the word I want. It feels like my brain pauses and I can't bring myself out of it. I still have a sense of time passing, but other than that I'm blank.

Does anyone else get this?

As is often the case, JG Thirlwell's Foetus project is hard to describe in terms of genre. Good job this community treats them with broad strokes, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Taken today, in the Forest of Dean in the UK. Not the greatest photo, but it makes me very happy because the robin came up really close and I got to spend 5 minutes feeding it.

Imagine a friend asked you for a playlist of your 5 favourite tracks to introduce them to industrial/darkwave/goth/ebm/etc. Which ones would you choose? They don't have to be genre-defining or from foundational bands, just ones you enjoy the most.

These would be mine:

Skinny Puppy - Assimilate
Fields of the Nephilim - The Watchman
Wumpscut - Totmacher
Faith and the Muse - Annwyn, Beneath the Waves
Youth Code - For I am Cursed

What are yours?

Redux Records do great covers albums where they get a plethora of great noise/doom/stoner/sludge bands to cover classic albums, and they've just announced the next one in their series will be The Downward Spiral. There will also be a companion Best of Nine Inch Nails (Redux) album alongside it.

I can't wait for this to come out.
