That's entirely reasonable, and I hope you find a buyer for your collection if that's the route you go down!

No the water remembers the soup! You get all the goodness of the soup, but in water.

Yay I'm glad you like them!

I think it's worth putting it into perspective. How regularly are you handling and playing vinyl? Do you keep your vinyl sealed?

Obviously any toxic off gassing is bad when compared to a baseline of "none at all", but we live in environments where we're exposed to all sorts of toxic substances daily. I suspect vinyl is unlikely to add a significant risk to health over those existing sources unless you're breathing in the off gassing all day, every day.

The environmental cost is a fair criticism. All I'd say is, if that really concerns you, that's no reason to get rid of your existing vinyl. It can't be recycled, so you may as well keep enjoying it. Just don't buy any more.

I can't think of any specific EU vendors, but Etsy is a great place to find independent sellers and you can filter by region.

If you don't mind extending your search out to the UK, I can thoroughly recommend buying from the anarchist, queer print shop Black Lodge Press. They print stickers and zines in limited runs, so just checking now they don't have much available, but previously they had some great "Queer love destroys fascism" stickers. It's worth keeping an eye on their store.

This era of the internet was so exciting. I really miss it.

I haven't heard of Pastel Ghost, I'll check them out. I love those Perturbator albums.

This is a great cover.

The original is "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay.

Nice! I know none of those, but I'll be checking them out!

I'm planning on getting these releases:

Andreas E.P. by Covenant: a tribute to their late live bandmember, who died from cancer last year.

Sunbirds, by Slowly Building Weapons: I found out about this screamo band through the !obscuremusic@piefed.social community.

Better Off Alone, by Oromet: I haven't listened to this yet, but Oromet brought out a funeral doom album a few years ago that blew me away, and they're working on new material. Meanwhile they've released a cover of an Alice Deejay song. Yep, a funeral doom cover of an Ibiza summer classic. I'm intruiged.

There are a few more releases I'm looking at, but these three are the ones I'm most excited about so far.

It's Bandcamp Friday today, and I'd love to see what other people have bought/will buy today.

One of my favourite songs. I was lucky enough to see them play it live once and it was magical.

Oh this is immediately going on my wishlist. Thanks!

Well this is bittersweet.

I'll never forget seeing him play with Covenant 10 or so years ago. One of the best shows I've been to.

My Dying Bride - As the Flower Withers (1992, death/doom metal) Nine Inch Nails - Further Away (1994, industrial rock) A Perfect Circle - Mer de noms (2000, alternative rock)

I recently treated myself to a vinyl copy of one of my all-time favourite albums. I've wanted it for years and it makes me so happy.

I'd love some recommendations to books with a similar feel to Pattern Recognition by William Gibson. The things I particularly enjoyed about this book were the way visual elements and imagery were described, as well as how they made the protagonist feel.

I'm not necessarily looking for a similar plot, and it doesn't need to be sci-fi or speculative fiction.

So, hit me with your recommendations! I'd love to know what you enjoyed about the book you recommend too 😊

I've been rediscovering music from my youth recently, and I have a lot of love for this band. They started as a darkwave/Neue Deutsche Todeskunst band, but added elements of metal to their style.

Such sad news 😢

This was released today, and I can't stop listening to it.

I'm working on expanding my electro-industrial and EBM records.
