a dev can build a thing, an engineer can build a distributed modular thing with more complexity around non programming parts like infrastructure. Take the thing and design a machine of parts and each can be maintained, observed, and optimized as needed. For example we can use topics for backpressure and consumer lag for auto scaling pods, but then you have to consider the distributed processing for duplication, out of order, throughput... there is no exact line in the sand between dev and engineer but that's how I think of it.

my mom used to buy that crap along with nasty white bread. she still microwaves food on plastic plates that are decades old with visible knife cuts and bacteria stains in them. she used to be a life long democrat like our blue collar grand parents. Now she wants to stop immigrants even though she wouldn't recognize any and doesn't live anywhere near a border and she's already retired.

Anyway, don't eat that cheese, pick something else and don't turn into a dick when you get old.

yeah we all give our selves away, why would he even be thinking about the topic of trying to act smart? I used to ride a train to work and one morning a man was wearing those old timey boards with suspenders and messages about repenting and god. He kept yelling about the bible, it was really uncomfortable and I bet he was the biggest sinner of us all, what would motivate someone to do that?

I suspect that feeling like an adult is what happens when you start to be less creative over time and get used to it.

This free book from 1951 about mass movements explains what is going on. They feel their lives are spoiled and maga gives them hope. Logic doesn't matter.
