Don't worry, any positions that offer some degree of power (such as those in government) all seem to attract the same kind of asshole people. Doesn't matter where in the world it is, they are all mostly corrupt.

Not in my experience, no. It doesn't seem to be an issue with any particular group, although some people may be more vocal about Indian immigrants in particular - for what seems to be racially motivated reasons in my opinion.
The main complaint is that we've allowed too many people all at once and we now face issues with the lack of housing availability and affordability, the state of the economy, overpopulation and the potential strain on public resources.
