when it finally clicked, and now feels like a rhythm game, so you fight with a nobody over nothing in the end of the world

I've heard an interesting observation that fromsoft difficulty becomes more artificial, unfortunately. DS3 was hard, because it became faster, but you could rely on the animations to dodge the attacks in most bossfights. But the hardest ER bosses are different. You have to try and trial strategies not for the boss in general, but for a specific attacks. There's no way you can dodge waterfowl dance or PCR's clones attack naturally. You will die/take damage a lot without even understanding what are you doing wrong

I'm wondering, is it possible to include that restriction in public license for the software mastodon?

People often mix up linearity and level design. Almost every area in DS3 is crafted to be exciting exploring experience with multiple secrets and interconnected mini locations. Take Cathedral of the Deep. It has only one bonfire for the main area, that's insane! And there's another one, near a secret NPC, which you can find only if you go up the roof then notice a small balcony, jump down and open a door. The game don't give you hints to find these areas. There's no Gemini (thank God!) who instantly backseats you. That's why you feel special finding the secrets whatever fromsoft game you play. I enjoyed Lies of P battle mechanics, but there were quite a lot of problems with the other really important aspects of the game for me
