We used to have this (scan-as-you-shop) at Wegman's in the northeast US, but at some point they decided to withdraw the program to re-think on it.

I got too excited when I saw the first half of the headline. :P

Admittedly their fees are blatant because Uncle Sam basically handed them the whole market in the 2010s, when they were allowed to merge with Live Nation.

I drive by there twice a week when I’m there for work. Haven’t been since their predecessor, pre pandemic. (I remember when that building was Friendly’s, lol.)

Srsly tho I’ll check it out one of these weeks.
