It is a mistake to assume that those of us who oppose monarchy are Canadian nationalists.

Some people simply hate outdated hereditary titles. They have no place in a democracy.

Speaking of slavery, conscription of men to fight wars is another one of their "traditional gender roles". If fact it seems to be the reason why they are restricting abortions.

Only to the extent that it makes you realize we are all the same, I guess. Or at least that's how I feel after having lived in three countries and marrying somebody from a fourth.

There is a lot that you can learn and experience from other countries and cultures without actually traveling there. And there is very little you learn from a few days visiting some crowded tourist traps.

Just my opinion.

Most helium now has oxygen in it precisely to prevent this.

What a shitty thing to do! Inhaling an inert gas is apparently one of the least stressful ways to go, as CO2 buildup is what triggers the asphixiation response rather than the lack of oxygen.

I'm upset that they make it hard to commit suicide in a fairly bombproof painless way. Motherfuckers.

How so? I sincerely don't see how it can be argued that Jane Public deciding not to wear a mask these days could be construed as "not rendering aid". It's a massive stretch.

Anyone found to have recently obtained Russian citizenship but who hadn’t registered with the local conscription office was reportedly either issued with draft notices on the spot or taken to the military authorities directly.

Is it really anyone, or does conscription only apply to men, as per usual? This double standard is so prevalent that it's not even reported accurately.

Then it logically would be sufficient to disclose that you are not wearing a mask, which we already do (visually).

You make a fine point. If they can't get their act together to prevent school shootings, expecting them to protect vulnerable road users is probably unrealistic.

How many pedestrians and cyclists must die in order for us to take car licensing requirements more seriously?

I'm not sure we have the technology to achieve such greatness, but if we did, we could call it a TRAnsportation Innovation Network or TRAIN for short.

Local tourism is underrated. Your local destinations may not be known around the world, but they are nice enough and what makes travel enjoyable is breaking your daily routine and spending time outdoors with your loved ones, both of which you can do nearly anywhere.

Mixed mode travel where you hop on a train and then explore an area by hiking or bike touring is particularly rewarding.
