I had to look up why there were two empires. I took a guess and thought it had something to do with a split of the Catholic Church. I was about a thousand years off.

In 286 CE, Emperor Diocletian decided to divide Rome into two sections to try and stabilize the empire. For a hundred years Rome experienced even more divisions until the empire was finally divided in 395 CE and became the Western Empire and the Eastern Empire.

This division changed Roman life and government forever. There were now two emperors in each empire, and they governed independently. The capital of the Western Empire was Rome, and the capital of the Eastern Empire was Constantinople. Following this split, the Eastern Empire thrived. Constantinople was well-protected because it was on a peninsula that could be easily defended. It was also located on the frontiers of the empire allowing imperial armies to respond more easily to external attacks and threats.

As for the split of the Catholic Church, it happened in 1378:

The Western Great Schism began on September 20, 1378 with the election of Clement VII in Avignon, France. He was the second pope elected by the same college of cardinals in six months, and for the first time in history there were two "legitimate" claimants to be head of the church in Rome.

Please note: I just search for these events and have no idea how accurate these websites are. "Christian History for Everyman" sounds a little sketchy...

Yeah... it took me a while. I think the artist could have made the window mostly opened. Adding a depth of thickness to the wall would've helped too.

I initially thought he was looking at another picture drawn by his son and realized his son always draws him ugly while drawing everything else perfectly.

if you are curious I looked it up.

Oh get your heads out of the gutter. The “CUM” is particularly stylized as “Cüm”, which is also pronounced as “coohm” or “ขำ” in Thai. Therefore, the word actually means ‘funny’ in Thailand.

While this is true, the Million Man March was not supposed to be a peaceful protest. Malcolm X talked about how Martin Luther King's speech pacified what could have been a turning point in history.

Also the government has destroyed any positive movements but making laws indirectly making those movements illegal and killing leaders of any significant movement.

The anti marijuana laws is a great example of shutting down a hippie movement and any positive black groups at the time.

The killing of leaders is also particularly damaging because new leaders weren't able to trust people in their own organization. For example the man that killed Malcolm X was from his own movement. This created paranoia for people with in the movements.

The 90s history books made it seem like the Japanese concentration camps were a temporary vacation. Once everything was cleared up, they would be able to go home.

What they didn't mention was the conditions on the camps were horrible. They didn't include the propaganda against Japanese Americans. When the Japanese Americans went home, their homes and business were often destroyed. Trying to live like normal Americans was basically impossible by the amount of racism they received. Land of the free I guess.

I find this so interesting. In the US history books in the 90s, it basically says the US was main reason why the Allies won.

The books basically ignore when we joined in the war, how many people died, and made it seem like we were the only ones able to take down the Nazis. And Blowing up not 1 but 2 cities in Japan was justified because less Allies soldiers died.

This is question job interviewers ask to see if you have any ambition to work up the corporate ladder so you can do more work for the same pay.

Somewhat related. I fostered a cat that would move all the litter to the side and poop on the bare plastic. No litter out of the box. Weird but a very sweet cat. We were glad we got him a loving pet parent.

"Is it that one over there? I can't really tell since it is not visible with this light pollution. Even though there is only one Libra constellation, you have have been confused by Ursa Major and the Ursa Minor, where some stars are very visible. Oh you said labia."
