Unfortunately the whole point of my system is bridges/transports. I don't even use Matrix itself, I use it as a centralized messenger.

[–] fmstrat@lemmy.nowsci.com 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Overall I've been happy with Matrix (private not federated), but it's very convoluted. Whenever anything goes wrong it's really difficult to figure out why, as there is a lot of complexity. And once you set something up, it's really hard if not impossible to make a change.

For instance, since it's built for federation, changing the URL is impossible.

So I'd like to try out XMPP since it's much more lightweight and simple. I may not switch, but want to explore.

Well put. Don't insult the person doing what they can.

We dont know the whole story. The second driver might not have seen the chicken until it was too late. Nothing in the story indicates that the second driver purposely hit the chicken, but bear mace in an enclosed environment is no joke and can lead to permanent damage. Nothing about this story is "right".

My understanding is this was done for content, not for real world use.

Because it's a conflict of interest to not disclose a relationship with a subordinate. This is a normal course of action, it's just been denormalized as of late.

Since the article doesnt provide any useful links: https://github.com/oliverbravery/PrintGuard

I just aet up Obico self-hosted via Docker, so I may give this a go in Docker running alongside it. Can't hurt to have two methods of failure detection.

Technically 4.

Now start Rocket League and end up never playing another game for the next 4K hours.

ZFS is so.. So much better. In every single way. Change now before it's too late, learn and use the features as you go.

What's new is copying the Mexican president. He heard "cane sugar" in a chocolate bar announcement. Then talked to Coke about something they're already doing.

Chocolate bar in Mexico released with cane sugar a few days ago. Sigh...

Dumb question, but new to cycling, and the person at the store adjusted the height of the back via the tab. The Trek manual and video are absolute garbage, so we can't figure out how. Can anyone help?

Edit

To provide some context given the messages below. I was a professional photographer, and understand that getting a good photo is a skill. Exposure time, timing, location, and many other factors come into play when capturing a great image.

Seeing the aurora was a fantastic experience. The purpose of this post is to help reduce FOMO of those who could not see it. Many people who don't know these things will imagine dancing lights in the sky of brilliance, and will be saddened by what they missed. While they did miss something, it's important for them to know exactly what they missed.

Edit2 I should also note this is why I enjoy when photographers post gear, conditions, and settings alongside results. It tells viewers what was real.

So I'm guessing this has as much to do with a newer version of OpenRGB as the distro change, but I moved from Ubuntu 20.04 to Debian 12.

I've installed OpenRGB via the deb on the site. Running sudo openrgb -l -vv I get this at the end:

2: ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING
  Type: Motherboard
  Description: ASUS Aura USB Device
  Version: AULA3-AR42-0207
  Location: HID: /dev/hidraw0
  Serial: 9876543210
Modes: [Direct] Off Static Breathing Flashing 'Spectrum Cycle' Rainbow 'Chase Fade' Chase
Zones: 'Aura Mainboard' 'Aura Addressable 1'
LEDs: 'Aura Mainboard, LED 1' 'Aura Mainboard, LED 2' 'Aura Mainboard, LED 3' 'Aura Mainboard, RGB Header 1' 'Aura Mainboard, RGB Header 2'

But it no longer finds my fans via the standard ARGB controller. The RGB controller and on-board LEDS for the mobo work fine. I've tried every combination of switching "Zone", "LED", and "Mode" with no luck.

I do have an orp file that used to work if that helps? The strings output for anything ASUS are the same between the old one and a new one I made. So the devices exist in both, right? Here is an example:

A long read for normal Lemmy posts, but well cited including a study on stress during pregnancy. The links to the studies do have statistics if you are interested in further reading.

It's not just what you'd expect, it includes things like algae blooms growing that release neurotoxins, etc.

Apart from blow up printers, the one scariest thing for me about a slicer is losing settings. You spend hours getting your printer dialed in, specific profiles per material and then..

You update your slicer software and it all goes away. I have now learned Cura does this. And does this a lot. Forum posts abound about it. Friends recommend I switch to Prusa because it happened to them. Unfortunately too late for me to write down my old settings, and they're apparently not in the ~/.config/cura folder anymore. Nice.

The more I think on this, the more I wonder if it's truly unpopular "here," but it certainly is in public.

Headlights should be no more than 2 feet off the ground. Yes, your SUV will look dumb. No, you won't be able to see as far. But you also won't be blinding everyone.

And no, adjusting angles does not solve this for monster trucks in the US.
