Yes, but also to sue one must be able to prove injury. I don't know much about this group, but it is possible they hadn't been injured yet. Or that, knowing this was coming, they built their case months ago and have been waiting until this drops to do anything.

Not saying they're at all worthy of trust, anyone on that side of the aisle isn't, but the case would be tossed immediately if they sued before he took this action.

I've been wrong before, but once realized, I don't hesitate to correct that behavior or belief out of some selfish fear of losing face.

That's a level of introspection that most MAGAs are incapable of, and those who are tend to be narcissistic enough to not care. It's truly a set of mental health issues, and it runs deeper than their outward hatred implies.

I read a while back about how there's really strong correlation between people who are capable of certain levels of thoughts and where they fall on the political spectrum. The argument was that people with lower neuroplasticity tend to be more conservative, which can be explained by the fact that lower neuroplasticity makes learning and maturing, or overcoming any level of cognitive dissonance, is difficult to the point that it can cause them discomfort or even pain. This makes them more likely to be attracted to politics and policies which confirm their preconceptions rather than challenge them. It also makes them much less likely to accept any kind of fault in cases like this. It's a lot to do with why cults are almost always religiously conservative - - someone else has the duty of thinking for me, and I can go on hatin' the gays! Even the woo-woo cults always prop up some "enlightened" leader, and the followers get agitated or violent when that enlightenment is challenged by anyone.

The other end of the idealogical spectrum have people who are capable of that introspection and are able to identify when there are deficiencies in their emotional maturity or understanding of something. They're physiologically more able to recognize these situations and effect a change within themselves, and it's why we on the left tend to be less outwardly angry, more respectful, and more willing to grow.

tl;dr: empathy makes MAGA brains hurt, and they need therapy.

I guess the /s wasn't as blatant as I thought it was

But really, from Canada's perspective, it is free market choice. The products have a price that they're not willing to pay, be it fiscal or idealogical, so they've opted to not buy them. It sucks for the sellers in the States who have relied on Canadian sales, it sucks for the Canadians who don't have the same access to products they want from the US, and it sucks for all of us little people who have to pay an additional 200% tax on medical equipment because it has pieces which can only be made on highly specialized machines in Japan. All because of an amphetamine-addled, semi literate, profoundly incontinent Neo Nazi.

The only winners in this game are the ones that are high enough above the waterline that they'll weather the flood, the rest of us are headed down the drain.

Super valid points. Cortisol is one heluva drug.

I know this is petty, but I don't care. Why is it that these people always have the most generic, first-gen AI created names and the most fucked up faces? I know fascism doesn't inherently attract the best, brightest, and most interesting but come on. It's like they just hit random on the Oblivion character creator and said "Brooke Rollins with the fivehead? Looks good to me!"

Free market baby!

If only we had a way to predict this exact scenario.

For sure, you never lose your right to complain. But be fair to yourself too, even if you complained incessantly, you stuck it out (and what is a Linux user without incessant complaining?).

The point is what you said though, they could very easily solve an issue that could be preventing a large group of potential users from adopting... because the maintenance team doesn't want to update the installation guide or the file names. Again, it's a very Linux thing for them to take that position. And that's why I end up recommending an Ubuntu spin to people, even though I think the whole package that Mint presents is nicer out of the box.

I love Mint. It's still my favorite Debian-rooted distro, even though I moved on from it more than a decade ago. But their refusal to adapt their install image to newbie-proof it frustrates me so much. I can't think of another mainline distro that's given me any problems in creating install media or installing, and that makes it impossible for me to recommended Mint to anyone who won't have me over their shoulder during the install process.

I commend you for sticking to it and figuring out what the issue and fix were. 90% of users would have given up, reinstalled Windows, and went on Reddit to complain about how shitty Linux is.
